Re: The Yankees Have Signed Richie Sexson (per Buster Olney)
Bingo. Moeller shouldn't be DFA'd just yet. Hawkins on the other hand is what Kyle Farnsworth was last season...mop up man. He's pitching in a blowout, winning or losing.

It's like GM 101? Oh really? So if Posada goes down again because of his shoulder and Moeller is gone, who is going to replace him? Maybe with your idea, Hawkins can catch.

Don't tell me it's GM 101, when it really isn't.

Re: The Yankees Have Signed Richie Sexson (per Buster Olney)
It's unlikely Moeller would be picked up by anyone else so we would still have him in the minors. Do you really feel that it is worth it to keep a catcher on the roster who almost never plays just in case Posada gets hurt again? We need bench help, and keeping 3 healthy catchers on the roster is detrimental to our team in my opinion.

In order for that to happen we MUST first offer him arbitration which we will never do because he would instantly take it and at probably 80% of his current salary we would have him next year for approx $11,200,000.

Re: The Yankees Have Signed Richie Sexson (per Buster Olney)
That and Sexson would probably need to hit like 30 HRs between now and the end of the year to even be a Type-B FA. It's hard to imagine him cracking the top 40% of MLB 1Bs for the last two years which would he would need to do to be typ-B, let alone the top 20% which he would need for type-A.

Re: The Yankees Have Signed Richie Sexson (per Buster Olney)
If you consider what the Yankees pay Pavano and Igawa, you can easily conclude that Sexson is playing for free. So, other than the fact that he's taking up a roster spot, who would you rather be in the lineup tonight instead of Sexson who is currently on the roster? Betemit? Duncan?

Good point. And since Duncan is probably finished for the season there really were not a lot of options. Sexson is a better hitter and first basemen than Betemit. Even if it does not work out its not like the Yankees gave up any players to get him.

Sexson is hitting a major league worst .123 with RISP - he'll fit in perfectly.

Looks like Abraham just got us the info. Traber sent down and Hughes to the 60 day DL:

Yikes. Does Girardi know something about Giambi that I don't? If not its inexcusable not to have him in the lineup.

Would rather see Giambi at DH then Posada. Even against a lefty Jason is a bigger threat.

He has taken over the yo-yo role from Chris Britton.

Its pretty sad, I really thought Girardi was a number's guy but he is no better than his predecessor when it comes down to it. A number guy would look at what Giambi is batting against lefties this year. Furthermore, let me say, if Posada can not play catcher, he is hurting this team, let him have surgery.

Call me an optimist, but I generally believe in the "Law of Averages". I just don't see Cano continuing his sub par performance. Good players tend to end up where they should be by the end of the year, which means he should have a pretty darn good 2nd half.
