Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
According to Abraham, Bruney will move up to AA and likely will be back after the All-Star Break (http://yankees.lhblogs.com/). So, do you think this spells the end of Hawkins?? I think Giese and Robertson are much much much more useful and valuable guys in the pen then Hawkins.

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
Who cares who goes. If Brunney is throwing like he did before the injury, he'll be a valuable guy to add.
But to answer your question, yes unless someone else is hurt or Giesse has a complete meltdown I think Hawkins will be gone.

Good news. Hopefully Hawkins is the odd man out. Nothing personal, he's just not very good at his job.

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
Actually, the question of who goes is very important. As the OP mentioned, Giese and Robertson have thus far been solid performers, replacing one of them with Bruney doesn't add a significant amount of value to the bullpen.

Possibly this is a good sign for an earlier return of Wang as well.

they may be the same injuries, but their recoveries aren't going to be the same. plus he had other issues in addition to the lisfranc.

Other issues, and as a starter it is going to be harder for him. I fear he won't actually return till 2009

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
Our bullpen right now is:
Farnsworth
Giese
Hawkins
Ramirez
Rivera
Robertson
Traber
Veras
Of those the worst and least valuable is Hawkins; he has to be the one to go. Maybe we can trade him for some bats.

Traber could always just go down. Hopefully its Hawkins and Traber.

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
I think it will be Traber getting sent down as Hawkins survives another day.
With Bruney already pitching in the minors I figured he'd be back soon after the break. That could be a very nice boost to our bullpen.

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
I hope you mean actual bats, as in a half a dozen bats and a bag of batting practice balls, because I don't think any teams out there are going give up anyone who can swing a bat given the way he's pitching. I think he could still turn it around and be useful, I just don't think he has any trade value.

I'd be pissed if Hawkins stays and one of those two goes... although I have possibly even less use for Traber at this point.

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
I'm worried Bruney won't be the same after this injury, but if he is coming back for Hawkins it's a good move. If he is taking anyone else's spot, it's not.

It would be great if Brian could return relatively soon.
It's a real shame that both he and Albaladejo got hurt, or else our bullpen could be greatly improved.

Bruney will never be a good pitcher! He will always walk batters and be inconsistent! Trade him asap and get something for him.

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
I don't know it was just a foot injury. I'd imagine he'd be good to go again pretty quickly. The only real risk of him not being the same is if he is worried about landing on his foot too hard.

DFA Hawkins before he can step on the Yankee stadium mound again (or any mound for that matter)!

True, I guess I'm just scared that the Bruney we saw this year isn't the real Bruney, and we'll get the guy that walks everyone.

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
Not an unreasonable thought at all. What we saw this year is the definition of small sample size. I hope he comes back hot but I'm surely not counting on it.

Bats are nice, but I'd rather hold out for those oysters and a side or two of beef.

He is 26 and this is the first season he decided to get into proper shape. (less rotund)

Re: Bruney may return following the All-Star Break
If Bruney can return to the form he was showing at the beginning of the year, goodbye Hawkins. Even if he's not as good, I'd rather see him on the roster than Hawkins.
