Re: The David Cone said what? Thread

I'm not going to start a new thread but this fits. Paul just spoke about a hotbox and Mike was telling a story about a bunch of guys bending over in a line and jumping on them or whatever. I think I almost pissed myself.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
Cone talking about 50 shades of grey in the 9th inning last night made me laugh. Coney's a freak...who knew?

"That was deep in that kichen, tied him up. Tied him up tight. Tighter than the novel '50 Shades of Grey.'"
Singleton: I haven't read that yet, is it worth it?
Coney: Oh hell yea

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
if there was any Yankee, current or past, I would want to spend time in a bar in, it would be Coney. Yeah, someone like Yogi and Whitey would have incredible stories to tell, but Coney would be a laugh a minute.
And he's a really nice guy- my wife (then girlfriend) and I met him in the suite lounge once at Yankee Stadium, he was signing autographs. When he found out she was going to donate the autograph to the school she works in as a teacher so they could have a raffle to make some money, Coney seemed genuinely interested in what she did and taught and everything.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
thanks for posting that - I missed it.
me too.
nice story.
that was my experience too when we went to a NY sportswriters dinner years back..he was super nice to me and my friend - couldn't have been nicer.
a bunch of them were going to this party at a bar afterward and we thought about going since we were told about it - we were seriously considering jumping in cone's limo as the guy was waiting out there while Coney was still talking to people.

Cone is conducting a live chat on Twitter during today's (8/15) game. That sure has the potential to provide additional material for this thread.

I love that O'Neill is essentially at the point where he just ignores Kay. Every time Paul says something, it's "Coney..." or "... right, Coney?"

I enjoy listening to Cone.....you never know what he is going to say and sometimes what he says can be controversial, but always interesting. Keep it up David!

I find him the closest replacement to Jim Kaat. Hopefully he won't get into another fight with the YES network!

My buddy said Coney was going after Kay tonight but I wasn't able to watch the game. Anyone know what happened?

Cone caved in after his perfect game. I always felt it had something to do with giving out gold watches.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
Cone is taking some heat nationally for his "chop stick" comment last night (referencing Ichiro's swing and ability to make contact with a ball out of the zone):

I really didn't think it was that big of a deal. I'm sure Cone meant no harm. It was probably intended to be more a comment of the chopping motion of Ichiro's swing.David Ortiz tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003.
