Hahaha, better hope Thomas doesn't go all Milton Bradley on him.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
On the Jeter sac fly he tried to say "hold your breath," but it sounded more like "hold your breast." Oh Coney..

Sounded like he tried to wiggle out of that one after he said it.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
He doesn't say "Kenny". He calls him Singy ...LOL

It goes something like this:
Kay or Kenny: And pettite strikes out .... with a great breaking pitch.
David: "And you're right micheal, you can see .... just bail out on that slider, nasty slider there by Andy petitte"
He says it all the time

I hate Cone as an announcer, but I died laughing at that.

Yeah, he does! I've changed my post from Kenny to Singy. Thanks.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
I think he said on his radio show that he's on a 2 week vacation in the Hamptons. He'll probably be back for at least the Boston series next weekend if not sooner.

Cone is at his best when Kay gives him openings to say something dumb, so I hope he gets back from the Hamptons soon. Also where is Oneill?

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
When the Yankees were out in Oakland, Singleton mentioned something about O'Neill being on vacation with his family in Italy. I think the last time O'Neill worked a Yankee game was in early May during the Cleveland series at the Stadium.

I love it! I love his excitement even though, yes, it is almost comical. I also love that he makes these crazy comments like about Ponson getting back from Aruba safe - it's funny because it's true!

They need to lock Coney up for a long, long time as the main color guy.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
He's good. He can relate on many levels. He was a near Hall of Fame pitcher, great with the media, one-time party boy, pitched a perfect game, had a health scare that almost shortened his career and life, played on a lot of teams, played in the WS and All-Star game.
He can pretty much give an opinion about anything, because he's already been there.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
This exchange cracked me up yesterday:
Kenny: Well, that was a weird play...
Coney: What, the 'ol 9-5-6 force out at second?

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
I've only seen Coney recently on the DirecTV free preview. He seems WAY more at home now than he did back in the spring. In addition to the "What, the 'ol 9-5-6 force out at second?", he also was tickled at the movement on one of Pettitte's pitches...as he was cracking up I think he called it something like a "cutterooo"...Good stuff!!!

I tell you, he REALLY reminds me of Scooter... Both just say whatever comes to mind. Coney's way too good!

This is becoming one of my favorite threads. Cone is fantastic! He makes me laugh at least a couple of times a game.
Phil Hughes is... ???

They need more Cone and a lot less Leiter.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
Cone, O'Neill and Singleton is a sick combination in my opinion. Just let Kenny call the plays and Paulie and Coney can banter away.
I wish we could haz a Matt Harvey.

Re: The David Cone said what? Thread
Awesome Thread!!
I'd love to throw in my comments in the mix.
I'll go on record saying I like Coney best with Kaye and FLASH Flahtery! How many times have we heard, "College?!?!?!" I got my education on a bar on 2nd Avenue."
I love when he asks annoying questions and Flash replies, "Well, David..."
Coney is the man - period! I find myself making Coney references throughout the day. "That was soooo tiiighhhhttt."
I pumpppeedddd he's doing the Sox series this weekend. Can't wait! What will he say next??
