    It is to my understanding that they only did this last year to mark the 60th anniversary.

    Tuesday is Jackie Robinson Day throughout Major League Baseball. The entire Rays team will wear No. 42 in honor of Robinson, while the Yankees' Girardi, Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano and Mariano Rivera will wear it

    Griffey started it in 97 to celebrate 50 years.

    This crossed my mind today: Rivera wears 42 every day. The players who wear 42 have no name on their back. Let's say the Yankees wore names on the back of their jerseys, would Rivera have his name on the back or not?

    The Devil Rays went nameless tonight, and they usually wear names on their jerseys. I can't speak for the rest of MLB as I didn't watch any other games.
