Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Speaking of Melky's performance -- his off the field performance includes taking a leave for the birth of his child. This will be his 4th child (I think this is the same mother from child #3 so I believe we're still at 3 moms/4 kids.
).

I still can't believe Melky f.... Cabrera is hitting .354 with a .916 OPS in July.

Definitely. It's perfectly reasonable to evaluate this trade half of one season into it.

George Kontos has pitched well for San Francisco (he got traded for Stewart).

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. Apparently the Braves (Chipper Jones in particular) weren't too thrilled with Melky's douchey behavior earlier this week: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/ey...-melky-cabrera

He didn't reach the majors with the Yankees but...
23 year old Jose Quintana's last start (at Boston)
8IP 5H 2K
70.1IP 43K 2.30ERA 1.02WHIP .231BAA
The Yankees deemed him not worthy of a spot on their "prestigious" 40 Man roster.

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Those types of moves/non-moves bother me more than failed trades. I didn't agree with the Montero trade, but I could understand it. Letting Quintana and Aceves walk away when there were options and trading Kontos for a player with zero value are the kind of moves a GM should be criticized for. Especially considering some of the players who were given roster spots.
Don't tease me, you know what I do for a living.

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Agreed. I hated the Montero trade but I understood the rationale behind it but seeing Quintana flourish in Chicago when all it took to keep him was a spot on the 40 Man, it pisses me off.
Every year there are always multiple scrubs on there that'd be easily replaced or just re-signed once they were removed because nobody else was interested.
Letting Quintana walk & trading Kontos for someone like Stewart is just awful.
(Just because there are some shmucks that would go there....no I am not saying Cashman should be fired, it's the "end of the world" or some other ar-tarded exaggeration).

The White Sox's minor leagues now have Dewayne Wise.
Miami promoted Nick Green to MLB. He had 82 plate appearances with the Yankees in 2006. Miami will be his eighth MLB team.
