Noesi leads MLB in BABIP and has a better opponents' OPS than former Cy Young winners Hernandez and Sabathia. Hernandez is only fourth on Seattle in opponents' OPS.

In other words, he's been very lucky so far.

Today Noesi allowed 6 runs including 3 home runs in 4 1/3 innings. He gets a no decision and the Mariners vs. White Sox game is 8-8 in the tenth inning.

Philadelphia's Jose Contreras is out for the season.

he wont last long, they'll send him back down. Only reason they brought him up is they have no other options
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

Seattle's Hector Noesi surrendered five hits and one run in seven innings of work Friday evening against the San Diego Padres while teammate Jesus Montero had three singles in four at-bats while throwing out two of three attempted basestealers.

The Padres feature major league superstar Chase Headley. Shutting that team down is pretty impressive.

Nice article on A.J. Burnett in today's Times. Apparently, he's playing the Wise Old Man for the Pirates' youngsters ... and is also pitching very effectively (aside from one disastrous start).

Good for him, I wish him well.

Wasn't particularly fond of Burnett, and was happy to see him go and free up some $$ for other players. That said, the Pirates made a good risk/reward decision in acquiring him at a reduced cost.

Winning seven straight is impressive. He only gave up 9 ER during that span. Who did we get back for AJ again?

Sal Relief - he's a career minor leaguer who doesn't seem to have much future potential. That said, despite AJ nice season in the Iron City, he had to go.

I'm happy for AJ too - I liked him but I don't think he would be doing that here so I agree that it was good to move him...

I'm also happy for Melky..the Melkman is definitely delivering - broke some Giant records in May:

Agreed. It'll be awhile before the Yankees can resolve Sal's control issues.
If they ask who was our star, give them 25 names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.

Agreed. I have a friend who is a Pirates fan and we were talking about Burnett this past weekend and I told him that despite AJ's resurgence, you will not find a Yankee fan anywhere on the planet who regrets the trade.

    Good for him

    Today @ PHL
Burnett (9-2) allowed three runs and six hits, striking out seven. The winning streak is his longest, and it's the first time a Pirates pitcher has won eight in a row since Dock Ellis in 1974.

Glad I took a flier on Burnett in a couple of fantasy leagues. I traded him in one to land Cliff Lee (as a package of course, which is still biting me in the ass) but the other I am still rolling with him. Hell of a year so far. Glad to see him doing well.
    Boo for trading Prado.

Who would have thought A.J. would be outperforming Cliff Lee this year ... by a wide margin, too? Yet who thinks he'd be doing the same if he were still in New York?
