Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Good for him
Today @ PHLhttp://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=320628122Burnett (9-2) allowed three runs and six hits, striking out seven. The winning streak is his longest, and it's the first time a Pirates pitcher has won eight in a row since Dock Ellis in 1974.He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Glad I took a flier on Burnett in a couple of fantasy leagues. I traded him in one to land Cliff Lee (as a package of course, which is still biting me in the ass) but the other I am still rolling with him. Hell of a year so far. Glad to see him doing well.

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Who would have thought A.J. would be outperforming Cliff Lee this year ... by a wide margin, too? Yet who thinks he'd be doing the same if he were still in New York?

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
Big congratulations to Melky Cabrera who'll be starting in the outfield for the NL All Stars.
http://www.csnbayarea.com/baseball-s...6&feedID=10850
Cabrera ended up leading all NL outfielders. He garnered 7,521,784 votes. Only catcher Buster Posey received more support on the entire NL ballot.
It resulted in Cabrera’s first All-Star selection. It’s a meaningful honor for the 27-year-old, who played alongside so many perennial All-Stars with the New York Yankees and was expected to become one himself.
Cabrera said he spoke with Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano on Saturday, and they both expressed hope they’d meet up in Kansas City. Coincidentally, that’s where Cabrera broke out for his 201-hit season a year ago.

Jose Tabata was sent down today by the Pirates.
It's all Cashman's fault!

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
I find it interesting that many of the same people who have no doubt that AJ would not be pitching nearly as well in the AL East, are also confident that Ian Kennedy could have had the same season that he did last year with the Yankees. It's easy to underestimate just how bad the NL Central and West are.

Austin Jackson
.335BA, .411OBP, .964OPS (20 less games then his teammates but still very impressive)

Kinda amusing (not really) how Cashman's two biggest trades in recent memory are so vastly different in terms of production both sides are getting from their respective players.

Melky Cabrera wins All Star MVP. Has more hits (320) than anyone in MLB over last season and a half. If he stays motivated we got the short end of the deal w/ Boone Logan

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0
And i think the same thing would have happened if he satyed in new york. I believe it took the kick in the ass of being non-tendered for Melky to find the motivation to put in the work needed to be a good MLBer. Before that it just seemed he skated by.
That said, I'm happy to see him doing well. I enjoyed the melkman in new york.Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

Jonathan Albaladejo just got the save in the Triple A All-Star Game as the Pacific Coast League beat the International League 3-0. The game was in Buffalo and 2 runs were scored in the top of the first. The fourth batter of the game hit the game-winning sacrifice fly.
