I was happy to see him do well in KC, but thought maybe it was a fluke, and SF is a notoriously tougher place for hitters.....

Really glad to see him get off to a good start this season

I still think he's perfectly capable of a three-month stretch where he hits .211.

Wasn't there a storyline last year about Alex lobbying for the Yankees to resign Melky prior to 2011? We all scoffed at that proposition then, but in hindsight....

He's a FA after this year. But that would probably require dumping Swisher...which would be pointless.

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0

Yeah, I think I'd much rather have Swisher than Melky.

I'm not sure how they'd compare in terms of relative cost/years on the contract. I assume Swish would get a much heftier deal.

remember folks Melky is hitting his prime right now

Hector Noesi posted a quality start Thursday afternoon in Cleveland, surrendering only one run in 6.1 innings, giving up five hits and one walk, striking out five:

The Seattle bullpen, however, could not protect the 4-1 lead.

You've got to admire that walk rate for a guy who is hitting .172

Cody Ransom has a .922 OPS and .25 RBI per at-bat but was designated for assignment by Arizona. The Yankees should get him to replace Nix.

I thought Ransom was a corner infielder. Nix backs up the middle infield.

Seattle starter Hector Noesi posted another quality start Tuesday evening against the Texas Rangers, limiting the league's top-scoring team to three hits and three runs over eight innings, walking two and striking out seven in the Mariners' 3-1 loss:

Jesus Montero went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts (and no passed balls) in his 18th start at catcher.

Here are Ransom's career innings in the field:

    3B: 401 2/3
    SS: 381
    2B: 133 1/3
    1B: 68
    LF: 1

In that case I have no problem with him replacing Nix. Hopefully he gets treated better on NYYFANS this time around.

I'll bet Nix's vertical leap is nowhere near as impressive as Ransom's.

    Ransom was claimed by Milwaukee.

Edit: Colorado called up Wil Nieves.

Melky Cabrera is now hitting .368 (so far he's 1-3 today) with 4 Homers and 25 RBI's. I always loved watching him play, and it's great to see how well he's doing.

Ted Lilly (5-1, 3.14 ERA with the Dodgers) was placed on the disabled list.

This is the first time since 1921 that a LHP with the initials "TL" has landed on the DL while recording at least five wins and having an ERA under 4 before June.

The fact that anyone knows this is frightening.
