My father has prostrate cancer too, and he is doing well. Luckily, the treatments aren't as hard on the patient as people normally associate with cancer. He should be able to kick it if it didnt spread around..

My favorite player as a kid. I still remember the poster I had of him in my room growing up. Hopefully it is slow-moving and treatable like he said in the article. Best wishes to him and his brother.

It says he was diagnosed around Thanksgiving but he opted not to have the surgery right away because he didn't want to miss Spring Training.

The doctors ok'd it because they said it's slow growing, but still. I think I would have opted for surgery ASAP.

One of the greatest injustices is the fact that #9 was retired for Roger Maris yet I always thought Graig was more deserving of that honor. JMO

I was lucky enough to meet Graig Nettles back in 1984 when he was with San Diego. It was a real fluke. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I was on a business trip in Chicago and the Padres were staying in the same hotel. I bumped into him in the hotel lounge and he very graciously took a picture with me. The following year, I mailed a copy of the picture to him, which he autographed and mailed back to me. I have it hanging up in my den to this day.

I hope he'll be okay and I'll certainly be thinking about him and praying for him.

I met him at an autograph signing where I used to work last year (or the year before). A little brash (but who wouldn't be at an autograph signing) but overall a nice guy. Get well soon Graig.
