I plan to go there next week to take a look, but I have a partner who will need to split it with me. I asked the rep regarding the 2009 non-premium sell out. He stated that with the 41 game assignments, those with good seniority will definitely get tickets. He said that some people with 41 games may be shut out if they have recent seniority.

Not to start a panic here, but it definitely does not sound good for those with less than the 41 game plans. Evidently, enough people upgraded to full season that there are not enough 41 game plans to cover everyone who had a plan last year.
I tip my hat to you If you can afford to pay $500 a seat for a regular season baseball game. But I would take issue with your statement that it represents good value, especially when 99.99% of the population cannot afford it.

Also, please stop stressing out the partial plan holders by posting negative information that is pure speculation on your part.

To be honest for the past few years Ive sat with my friend in his company seats on occasion. Last year they were $200 per now $600 per. The fans in those seats were different every game and there for the experience of Yankee Stadium. We decided on many occasion it was a lot more fun in our tier seats along first base cheering along with the same crazed Yankees fans every game. And for me the view was better as well
good luck to all 41 gamers from a scared into full season plan

Not looking to stress people out just trying to keep factual stuff out there being realistic so that someone does not turn down their 41 game plan hoping to get into a pool that never materializes either. I think its telling though that someone with 2001 seniority is in the last section, in fair territory just 6 rows from the top of the section.

Will you be happy being offered a terrace seat if your first preference was a main, or a grandstand if you asked for a terrace? No, of course not. BUT you WILL be offered SOMEthing under $85. (That's the highest seat price accorded all non-full season people, as listed in the relocation guide.)

    Have (some) faith, people!
I don't consider $85 (or even half of that) "affordable" for an individual buying their own FS or partial plan, even in NY money. I think most of the panic for people with (and upgrading to) full season and 41-game plans is because affordable seating (less than $30/ticket) has been cut in half at the new Stadium, while the demand for those tickets skyrocketed. IMO, the individual ticket holder (who bought the plan with the intentions of going to the games themselves and/or splitting them up within a small group) with FS or 41-game would want the cheaper tickets more than smaller partial plans, as s/he couldn't afford high ticket prices for 41 or 81 games.

    Right.

However, someone else with a 41 game plan posted on the comments section of my blog:
I got my email today. VERY unhappy w/ my location sec. 407 row 7. I was a Tier Box MVP 611 last year. Not sure If I will accept this PITIFUL seats!!

    http://newstadiuminsider.blogspot.com/2009/01/b-plan-season-ticket-holders-check-your.html

That is a pretty HORRIBLE downgrade. I have asked the person what year seniority they have, but this does not bode well for my 2005 seniority in Section 1, Row M of Tier Reserved.

    Ugh

The only good thing about that is how much money he would be saving! Those tix are only $20 each!

The person just responded on my blog with the following info about their seniority date:

1999. I called the ticket office to complain and I was told I "better accept" if I want a seat. They said only seniority before 2003 we be guarented seats in all plans
Wow. This is seriously bad news.

So, to whomever is updating the relocation list, you can add this horror story, but the guy isn't sure if he is accepting yet.

The people who upgraded to full season from 41 games are looking pretty smart right now.

Sorry but Its officially panic time Art.

They're also looking like people with a lot of disposable income in a bad economy - a luxury that most people don't have right now. Either that or they let poor and impulsive financial decisions - utilizing credit cards - control their lives. Not so coincidentally, this same type of impulsive decision-maker has been a contributing factor toward our Country's massive national debt and foreclosure crisis.

Anyway, let me not get started - I'll save that speech for another message board.

Or, we're anticipating selling a handful of games for well above face, in addition to many others for close to face, and whatever we can get for some other less desirable games.

I bought my tickets with money, not credit. Isn't that what I'm supposed to be doing in this economy? Spending (money) to keep the cycle going? Also, blaming the state of the economy and the credit crisis solely on consumers' spending habits is hardly fair. But I won't go there either.

The next report is even worse:
Checked my account. I was in 442 last season, now have 334 ROW 7 offered to me. Two words: THIS SUCKS.

If everyone who upgraded from partial to full is counting on selling tickets for the games they weren't PLANNING on going to in the first place, the market will be flooded and tickets are likely to sink below face value.

If you paid cash for your tickets, you fit into the disposable income category and good for you for making prudent financial decisions, having a good job, coming from a good family, or whatever led you there!

For the fan who can't afford season tickets, this honestly is a good thing to have the market flooded.

If you're turning down your seats, have you considered maybe perhaps joining up with another person who is in a section that you want to be in and splitting the seats? (Perhaps keep your current 41 game plan in the $20 seats for next year. You should be able to make most of your money back on the prime games.) I know for a fact that almost every section has people begging to split the seats because they bought a full season with money they don't have. (I've even seen people who would include every playoff game to the other person, as well as the majority of prime games).

Anyways, this is part of the reason I upgraded to a full season, when my rep told me that I had almost no shot of keeping my tickets unless I upgraded then and there. But at the same time, I wouldn't be too surprised if the Yankees miracously freed some more tickets for people, or even lied to an extent just to get people to take the plunge to purchase the seats.

(not paying housing expenses and not owning a car )

I haven't checked SH recently (I am waiting until I make my last payment and I finalize my location - I may try to switch from OGS to bleachers) but I would expect premium games to sell for at least 2x face (especially in GS and bleachers) and most weekend games to get face or slightly above. It's the early season, cellar dweller opponents, and mid-week afternoon games that I expect to have to take a loss on if I tried to sell on SH. I do still have list of a few people I know who want to go to games this year as well and I'll probably offer them the less desirable games first. Hopefully I will also be able to find a few other takers when I go to games as well.

I haven't been assigned yet, so I have not decided whether or not I will turn down the assignment. If I get tickets, I will likely take whatever location they assign me and watch for the HUGE attrition in the season ticket base in 2010. I will also call the ticket office 3 times per day and pester my ticket rep to try to pounce on upgraded seat locations when deadbeats inevitably don't pay their bill!

There ya go - I'm not here to judge anyone else's financial situation - I'm just opinionated and let my voice be heard. In any case, enjoy your seats and good luck with the secondary market.

Personally, I have always sold my tickets on Craigs List for face value or below. The only exceptions were for some mega-premium games where I took the average going rate and undercut it by a few bucks to make a quick sale. I'm never all about the money when it comes to games. It is very un-American and anti-capitalistic, but I just believe that if people want to go to Yankee games, they shouldn't be held up by people trying to turn a quick profit .

It is interesting that nobody previously in the Tier Reserved going from a partial to a partial (even the half season plans) has received an invoice and seat location yet. It makes me wonder if all tier reserved ticket holders from OYS will be on the waiting list for the New Yankee Stadium.

My guess is that Tier reserved will be offered some sort of presale. For every 41 game pack that is bought though, in theory they will have two 20 game packs to go with it. Unless they give one of the cubs games and create two 41 game packs.
