How Good Is The American League?
With Cleveland and Anaheim having loads of young talent, Detroit with an unbelieveable lineup, and Boston and New York not only having loads of young talent but with plenty of money to spend, how good is the AL?
I could easily see the reign of dominance in the All-Star Game continuing, and a new era of AL dominance in the World Series could be beginning as well.
Seriously though, all 5 of those teams would likely be the best team in the National League right now

Re: How Good Is The American League?
There's going to be some wars during the Regular Season and Post-Season with those teams.
Wow, look at this: NY Yankees, Boston, Cleveland, Anaheim, and Detroit.
Those teams can rake it offensively, and can bring it with the pitching.
Again, any of these 5 teams could easily win the National League if they were placed in the other league.

Yankees. Red Sox. Angles. Tigers
If those teams play the way they look on paper (meaning based on who is on their team alone), I don't see how they aren't automatics for the playoffs.
Tigers acquiring Cabrera today makes their lineup even better than it was.

Re: How Good Is The American League?
The AL is stacked...The AL is to the NHL, what the NL is to QMJHL.
Thank god for MLB.TV because its going to be a lot of fun."Owning the Yankees," Steinbrenner once said, "is like owning the Mona Lisa."

The American League is going to win the next 20 All-star games by the look of it.

Re: How Good Is The American League?
The AL teams will be better than the NL teams in the AS Game, but we need to remember that it IS a baseball game, and both sides have excellent players. The Devil Rays and Royals beat the Yankees and Red Sox several times a year, so it's certainly likely that a team with as much talent as the NL will beat the AL soon enough. The fact that they haven't in this long a time is a fluke, imo.

I think you messed up your analogy.

C'mon on man, if you're going to nitpick, you gotta get it right.

Haha you got me. I was trying to point out that original comparison was wrong.

Indians fans would have something to say about your "automatic" theory...

Colin Cowherd had a nice rant on this today. The NL is really getting to be a minor league at this point.
Oh man....

Re: How Good Is The American League?
I think the dh and power pitching that is in the AL has made them a dominant league for years to come and hope it continues since I lived thru the years that the NL was dominant.

Re: How Good Is The American League?
If Santana does end up staying in Minnesota, Liriano comes back strong, and Young lives up to expectations (all big ifs, I realize), that's a really scary team too. I really don't want to play a 5-game series against a team who boasts Johan Santana as their 2nd best starter. That's just sick.
The top 3 in the AL Central are all terrifying.42 is the answer
Gets to see even more of AJ Burnett now!

Re: How Good Is The American League?
It seems possible for a team in the AL to have a 100 win season and miss the playoffs one of these years.

Re: How Good Is The American League?
as long as the Yankees are in the AL, the AL will always be superior.

Re: How Good Is The American League?
The more good teams the AL get, the less likely that is to happen.

Re: How Good Is The American League?
That would mean the AL would have to have at least 4 teams with 100 wins, I would be very surprised if that were to happen.
