How do I make my sneakers more comfortable?

I saw a really nice pair of sneakers at a store but they didn't have any pairs in my size. They told me they could send for them and I agreed and paid. I got them and found the shoes aren't wide enough so it was crushing my little toe and hurting my foot to the point where i was limping. Anyone know of anyway to make my shoes wider? I just stuck two tennis balls all the way down them and it seemingly stretched them a bit to see if that will make them wider. Hopefully this works but if anyone has any suggestions for me and my wide feet (Ladies you know what they say about guys with wide feet ) let me know!

    Fat foot...

Can you return them to the store and get a bigger size?

A shoemaker could try and stretch them.

If your little toe is getting squished, take them back. An ingrown toenail will ensue. Not worth it. Exchange them.

If they don't fit right, I don't think anything you do will be a permanent fix and they could cause damage. I would try to return them if you haven't stretched them out too far!

I bought a pair of Nikes that I wore for about 2 days. They kept making my toes numb even thought they felt like they fit. I returned them and got a more comfortable model.

Only problem with the return idea is I've had them since before my vacation and I'm a 23 year old male so I didn't keep the receipt. I tend to throw those out.

How long ago was that? Do they look worn? If they are still fairly new looking, depending on where you bought them, they may give you store credit for a different pair.

Oh I'd say about 2 months old but I didnt wear them until I was in Vegas (didn't want to get them dirty, they are all white).

Well, I guess it depends on the store's policy on returns. Some places give you longer than 30 days if you have the receipt. But since you don't you may be out of luck. You should at least ask. If you can't, I guess you could try stretching them.

Re: How do I make my sneakers more comfortable?

I once did this with a pair of sneakers I liked and they were the closest size I could get and I liked them. However, I never wore them. They just sat in my closet because they really were too tight to be comfortable. I tried stretching them but it only helped a little bit.

If they are a name brand from a regular retail store and not a discounter, take them back. I once returned a pair of Nikes after wearing them 6 months because they started to rub my heal. No problems at all. Now that I think about it, though, I may have returned them directly to Nike and not the store. Anyway, it can be done.

I find the best way to make shoes more comfortable is to buy ones that actually fit

Seriously Mecca.....I didn't read this whole thread.....can't you return them and get ones that actually fit? I can't imagine wearing sneakers/running shoes that didn't fit correctly. Total bummer IMO.

That is also a no-no when it comes to buying shoes. How can you know how a pair of shoes will fit if you haven't tried them on first? I would bring them back if I were you. Tell them you lost your receipt but they don't fit right.

i'm sure you know now, but never do that, especially if you have wide feet.

At this point, the simplest solution would be to cut off your little toe.
