The Official Yankees Injury Report Thread - 2007 Version
Since last year's thread was so useful, I figure it's time to start one for this year as well.
Thus far, we have Abreu out with some arm ailment and Humberto Sanchez getting an MRI for "forearm strain".
Anyone else I'm missing?
Oh, Pavano and the line-drive.

Brian Bruney is feeling better and hopes to throw tomorrow, but he is still going for an MRI today on his left ribcage muscle in his back. So we'll see.Fire Cashman and Girardi yesterday!

Re: The Official Yankees Injury Report Thread - 2007 Version
I think the biggest suprise of the offseason so far is that the line drive the struck Pavano's foot didn't completely shatter it. He reminds me of the Samuel L. Jackson character in "Unbreakable".
I sure hope Sanchez's forearm is alright, this is probably the one I am most worried about. I think the Yankees are in a position to allow Abreu as much time as he needs to get to 100%.I'm too smooth you'll never see me comin', I'm never in a hurry I'm just movin' fast...

Humberto.
Encouraging news on Carl (if thats possible).Carl Pavano walked around in flip flops today and isn't worried about his foot. He is expected to throw tomorrow and hopes to be ready to pitch in a game Sunday.

This is why it's nice to have a dependable 4th outfielder. Also Damon won't have to play through broken feet anymore (barring more freak injuries god forbid).

Oblique muscles are lower back (the muscles next to your abs, outside the 6 pack part on either side, are also obliques, but I doubt he hurt those)

I know he wasn't invited to Spring Training - but does anyone know any info regarding J. Brent Cox's broken hand - the result of an "altercation"?

none of the injuries seem overly serious and should all be overcome before opening day (knock on wood.)
so far, it's:
abreu (oblique)
pavano (foot)
bruney (side)
sanchez (reaggravated forearm)
white (might have recovered already from neck strain)

Re: The Official Yankees Injury Report Thread - 2007 Version
I am not a doctor, but my understanding is that the external and internal obliques are considered to be part of the abdominal wall, and control the action of turning the trunk of your body. They do connect in the lower back, but I don't think an oblique injury is considered a back injury. But like I said, I am no doctor.

according to cashman, abreu's oblique strain is "significant"
http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/“Those can be timely. You can be looking at as long as three weeks.”
torre seems a tad optimistic

Yup, the obliques are part of the abdominal wall. I still remember that from gross anatomy
