Braves possibly trading for Jake Peavy
While appearing on ESPN Radio, ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick reports that the Braves are close to acquiring Jake Peavy from the Padres in exchange for 2B Marcus Giles, RHP Horacio Ramirez and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
From metsblog.com
The Yankees need to do their best to get in on this imo.

Re: Braves possibly trading for Jake Peavy
I don't see why the Padres would trade Peavy coming off a bad year. If they wanted to move him down the road to free up salary and reallocate funds to other positions of need that might make sense, depending largely on how much he'll command as a free agent. Right now, though? Don't see it.

Re: Braves possibly trading for Jake Peavy
Rule #1 is that you don't trade your young ace... it's exactly why good pitchers are so hard to find now... everybody is locking down their aces before they hit the market (courtesy of revenue sharing, no doubt) .
Stupid move for the Padres, if it were to happen."Every season brings this possibility. Every season features the promise of transcendence." - SJ Gould

Re: Braves possibly trading for Jake Peavy
If Peavy is really available, there is no way in hell Cashman isn't doing everything in his powers to get in on this. This would be the exact pitcher the Yanks can use. I believe Cash and Towers are very good friends...Cash has to be in on this!!!!

I would not know why San Diego would even consider this.

As an aside, what package would you be willing to give up for Peavy? what about Melky+Proctor/Sanchez+Clippard.

I don't see a single shred of evidence anywhere that this "story" is anything more than a made up trade scenario that would get you laughed off your average fantasy league forum.
Let's move on to some more believable made up trade rumors.~John
