Sounds from that article that the Os are busy!

Re: Jamie Walker to the O's
There is so much money compared to relatively so little talent going around this offseason, these contracts (el duque, thomas, blanco, walker) are real indications of this markets insanity. 3 years!?

Re: Jamie Walker to the O's
This is shaping up to be the most overpaid FA class ever. M&MD were just talking about Soriano possibly getting $20M per from one of the 8 teams chasing him. If that's true, then WOW.

Howie Mandel: Peter Angelos, you made a bad deal.
3 years, $12 million?!
Jamie Walker went from a pitchers park at Comerica to a hitters paradise/pitchers nightmare at Camden Yards. It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.
Every year is The Year. Go Yankees.

Re: Jamie Walker to the O's
I'll never understand why these mediocre teams spend their money giving middle relievers big deals (like the Cubs last year). Is it really worth spending 4 million dollars per year on Jamie Walker so they can be a 72 win team instead of a 70 win team? What the hells the difference?!! Save the money and get someone good who people will come to see.

If their GM or owner is smart, the teams won't be mediocre.

Re: Jamie Walker to the O's
Camden Yards is pretty neutral. It played as a hitter's park years ago, but now it's pretty much in the middle.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Speier to sign with the Yankees.

Spiecer is rightey. We have enuff righties in our pen. And also he is type A FA. We need lefties. Get Kline and one more lefty, and trade Myers.

Re: Jamie Walker to the O's
I guess they learned absolutely nothing from throwing a big contract at Steve Kline. Wow. Hopefully Walker just stinks for them without the whole "I'm a psycho" part.
I watched the last Yanks series @ Camden from here in Maryland...Jim Duquette was talking a LOAD of sh*t about the Yankees and about how great this offseason was going to be for the Orioles. Pssh.
Rotoworld: ". The 35-year-old is set to make more per year under the agreement than he has totaled in his entire career as a major leaguer to date."
God bless him...good job O's!!!

We don't need to be overpaying for bullpen arms. Thankfully.

I don't want to see the Yanks spend >$1m on any reliever this offseason. Especially not $12m like the Orioles did. Good relievers are hit and miss, anyway. I'd rather get someone in a trade or pick up a bunch of cheap guys and see what sticks in spring training

Re: Jamie Walker to the O's
Isn't this true for most players upon signing their first free agent contract?
