Re: The OFFICIAL Notre Dame thread
If I'm reading the scroll on ESPN correctly, the tweets I saw linked in the timeline above were the extent of the investigation ND did into the hoax.
It is saying that they did not look any deeper than finding those tweets mocking the phantom relationship. No phone records to prove the calls, etc.Mo' Nut: One Smoove Brotha.

Re: The OFFICIAL Notre Dame thread
What makes it so insane? Somebody made up a story. Either it was a college kid or a scam artist (right? i havent really read every little detail, but thats what i feel the general flow is). Neither one surprises me, i feel like we've all heard of made up girlfriends and faked sob-stories to get sympathy, especially from college age people

Re: The OFFICIAL Notre Dame thread
Agreed, but most made up stories don't end up being a component of a Heisman trophy campaign. It's the media's fault for overplaying that angle in the first place. Personally, it's "last week's news" at this point. I found it to be very bizarre due to its twists and scope, and it made for good water cooler conversation. Right or wrong, I do think it will have a minor impact in some draft war rooms.

Re: The OFFICIAL Notre Dame thread
Yeah, I mean, if the Heisman decision process factors in player girlfriends tragically dying, then that says more about the award being stupid than anything else
As for the draft, if my team factored this in (which I will never know if they did), they I think they are stupid as well. I'd rather they factor in him looking like crap against a real offensive line with Alabama

Re: The OFFICIAL Notre Dame thread
Good day for the Irish today, as they received all of the LOIs they expected (no bad surprises) and added 5 star DT (#9 overall prospect on Scout, #21 on Rivals) and former USC commit Eddie Vanderdoes just minutes ago, as he chose ND over UCLA, Alabama, USC, and Washington.
Tremendous job by the coaching staff down the stretch getting guys like Redfield to flip, getting in on (and eventually getting) Vanderdoes, who wasn't even in the picture a couple of months ago, and keeping anyone who was wavering after the national title game debacle, Kelly to the Eagles, and Manti fiascos, with the exception of Anzalone.-Kevin

Re: The OFFICIAL Notre Dame thread
Congrats on Vanderdoes. Hes a quality kid who handled this process with class and honesty, unlike Jalen Ramsey (who is a clown.)
I wish he stuck with us, but going to ND over UCLA is the "lesser" of two evils for me.

Re: The OFFICIAL Notre Dame thread
ND crushed it. Jaylon Smith, the OL haul, Redfield, Bryant and Folston, etc. and then to top it off with Vanderdoes is real nice. Kelly is building something. We may not make the championship game next year, but I think we'll be a better team. The arrow is pointing up and we should be in the hunt for the foreseeable future.
