I also posted this in the Yankee History section, but not everyone probably visits that area, so I'll post it here too. Hope the mods don't mind and humor me for a little while. I'm looking for career split numbers for Lou Gehrig (and other players as well). I've done google searches, scoured all the usual suspect sites like baseball-reference, and can't find it anywhere. I'm mostly interested in seeing how many homers Gehrig (and others) hit on the road as opposed to Yankee Stadium, but...
I wonder if either David Cone, or Clemens would want some kind of job as coach? Could Clemens, barring pitching for the Astros want to come back and be a pitching coach/consultant. He's obviously one of the best pitchers around and has been in the game for so long I think he would be awesome, as would Coney for the same reasons, just wondering aloud i suppose but could it happen?
I like the Sheff deal but our complete roster is not one I like. I'm not going to say that the Red Sox are better because they have their own issues to deal with but I feel that the Yankee roster is missing a lot. We'll see............... Bernie Williams a hitting machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so from what I have gathered in my limited time looking in on this forum, Joe Torre is not a great manager. His best attribute is that he remains calm and keeps the ship steady regardless of waves by players or owners. He wins four of eight WS, and does so only because the talent is extremely out of this world, misuses his players, and cannot judge talent. I just want to know who people would rather have as manager. I mean, ok, so Torre isn't the greatest manager ever to live but...
After some thought and little research I would like to guage peoples opinions on the improvement of Baltimore, Toronto, and Boston and the impact this will have on the division. Is there anyone else who believes we could potentially beat up on each other enough head to head to allow a wildcard from the west (seattle/oakland) or central (minnesota/chiws/kc) to sneak in? I still believe the Yankees will win the division, I am just throwing this out to see if i am in the minority on this.
So who is the Red Sox good lefty starter?
Knowing yankee history I cannot imagine them going with all right rotation and take it to the bank before opening day they will get one say like Odalis Perez? I really believe they will address this problem as playing in yankee stadium you need a lefty starter!

i'm not sounding pessimistic... i think we have a great rotation.... brown's injuries have been surgically repaired and is coming off an excellent season moose is healthy and will be ur normal moose contreras had one bad start as a starter and has nothing wrong with his shoulder structurally....it was a muscular thing which the yanks more than let heal....
With the news that Boomer has flown the coop, the name of Maels Rodriguez keeps being bantered about as a possible alternative, even though I question the need for more starting pitching at this time. However, today's article in the NY Post http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/44344.htm has the following comment So, is Rodriguez a starter or a reliever? Of course, none of us really know.
It's offical Wells has signed with the Padres... no lefties
NEW YORK (AP) -- Free-agent first baseman Tony Clark and the New York Yankees were close to a deal Wednesday that was contingent on his passing a team physical. "We haven't signed anything," agent John Boggs said. "There are a few things to straighten out, but we're moving in a positive direction. We're hopeful we'll get it done shortly."
I'm not going to be around too much this afternoon through the weekend due to a plethora of family that came in. So here are the news links. If I have time, I'll try and update this post. Happy Holidays!! Have fun at your New Year's Parties!! Dance as though no one is watching!! Eat, Drink, and be merry!!
Sterling Hitchcock... *Ducks flying objects* Hold your fire and let me explain.... First, in his starts in ST, Hitchcock did excellent. I pushed for him to be the 5th starter, but Weaver won that job and then stunk it up during the season. During the season, I wanted to see Hitchcock start. The one start he had versus the Orioles, he was excellent giving up 3 hits. Now, Hitch would've come cheap. He would've given us a quality lefty in the rotation and a solid starter in the...
INMO are Jorge DePaula, Scott Proctor,Brad Halsey. Any other possibilities?
I live in Florida and casually followed the Tampa Bay Devil Rays during their first season to see what type of team they were building. One of the players they drafted in the expansion draft was Cairo, and he was suppose to bring some speed to the D'Rays. He did, averaging 23 SB/yr during his 3-year stint with the club. However, he only has 7 stolen bases over the past 3 seasons. Now, I realize he was on the bench in StL, but the amount of SB per AB is still down a large no. since he was a...
I was reading the Ken Rosenthal article lambasting Bud Selig when I came across this little tidbit This fact is new to my thinking - I have been correcting several posters who have suggested that Boone & White for Manning, Claussen, the proverbial PTBNL and cash. To those who I have inaccurately corrected, I apologize
