It took a lot of work, and I consulted with several people here (including the commissioners) but attached here is a copy of what I hope will become our League Constitution. It incorporates all our rules and procedures, and I hope I didn't leave anything out.
If you can think of anything that I got wrong, or left out, please post it in this thread.
I'd like to pass this now, rather than during the off-season, so hopefully all the owners will get a chance to look at it.
This is the formula for the schedule for a 20 team, 4 division league in which each team plays division opponents twice and all other teams once.
First, teams need to be grouped by division and numbered, 1 through 5 in each division and 1 through 20 for the entire league. Other than that it's not essential that you put them in any particular order, but listing them by the order of last year's finish helps assure that teams won't end up playing each other in the same weeks each year....
Time to get excited boys and Miko. It's a day later (last year's thread was created on 1/13), but never a dollar short with Commish GDN (unless it's a Canadian dollar).
So, without further nonsense, please indicate in this thread if you're returning this year.
Guys with Wood - Yes
Romanian Yankees - Yes
Yup I Stink - Yes
Larrupin' Lou's - Yes
Miko's Biogensis Marauders Of Bad Etiquette - Yes
I swear. I'll try not to screw this up.
Vote in here for whatever you want the number of DL slots to be. 4 (which is what it is currently), 5, 6, 7 or unlimited.
IF the league votes for unlimited, we will take another vote on how to prevent grab and stash situations for players on the DL.
I always like to get an early leap on my keepers discussion.
Nick Castellanos - DET 21st
Brandon Crawford - SFG 19th
Michael Pineda - NYY 15th
Hyun-Jin Ryu - LAD 8th
Dellin Betances - NYY 20th
JD Martinez - DET 18th
Since all the owners have returned, I am declaring off-season trading period officially open. This off-season period will end before the keeper declaration deadline, which should be a few days before the draft, which should be a few days before the start of the baseball season.
All trades are still subject to league voting rules. Have at it folks, and watch out for the offers I send you!
Discuss in this thread if the DL should be changed and if so, by how much.
The most obvious idea is to add 1 spot. Some more adventurous ones are 2 more spots and an unlimited DL for players acquired prior to going on the DL, but not those acquired when they are on the DL.
We had a discussion back in April 14 about increasing the number of DL slots. We had a vote, which I'm told was an informal vote, in which most members favored an increase. Since we have to comply with the Constitution, however, this is a formal vote.
Vote on whether the DL slots should be increased. Please keep in mind that the bench is increasing by 1 to 5 this year.
Just a reminder to the friendly folks on this forum that we have voted on and accepted the following rule changes, which will go in effect starting 2015. I would kindly ask the Big E to update the Constitution to reflect the same.
Waiver period: 2 days
Trade period: 2 days
Keepers: 6, except for returning champion who gets none (special Miko rule applicable only to Canadians)
Did I miss anything? Did we vote on DL?
Seems like we have a bunch of ideas for the DL. Obviously I know this poll will not decide anything as I know the votes will probably split. Figured I'd get an idea of where people are to see not only if people want an increase but what kind of increase we should have.
Okay, folks, I've banned Miko from the forum while we come up with a plan to prevent him from winning again. Who's got ideas?
