  1. Barry Bonds not returning to Giants next season

From BarryBonds.com Tim Kurkjian said no other team would want him. He said he asked around at the All-Star game.

  2. "We’ve got so much talent I think sometimes we get bored.” - C. Delgado

Strange article since they would talk in very different tones after today. Some quotes below: Published: September 25, 2007 This article was published in the October 1, 2007, edition of The New York Observer. Randolph insisted his team is in playoff mode with a week to go, but by the accounts of several players, a pall of indifference settled on the clubhouse. First baseman Carlos Delgado told WFAN, “I think at times we can get a little careless. We’ve got so much talent I think...

  3. History Making Quote by James Calvin Rollins

"I think we are the team to beat in the NL East -- finally"- Jimmy Rollins http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2740529 I'll say it one more time, because it's unreal. I cannot believe Rollins was right. That'll be all....

  4. AL vs NL

If anyone knows, the tie breaker rules appear to be different in AL vs NL IE: If the sawx&Yanks were tied at end of season(like 2005)with identical records(for 1st place) head to head play would decide the winner..But in the NL IF the mets&phils HAD tied there would be a 1 gasme playoff? do I have this right & If I do why the descrepency?

  7. Red Sox "Nation" Presidential Election

I stumbled upon this today- Have you guys heard of this? Is this a joke? They actually had a debate with Tim Russert while Larry Luchino and Tom Werner showed up to listen. Huh? Does this seem weird to anyone? They actually charge $14.95 to become a card-carrying member of Red Sox "Nation." How self-absorbed is that? And where, exactly, is Red Sox "Nation?" Massachussetts? I live in Nebraska and people refer to the fanbase as "Husker Nation," which always makes me wonder, "where does...

  8. AJ Pierzynski gets 2 years/12.5 million

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3042419 Link to his extension. If someone who is hitting .263 with an OBP of .309 is worth that much, Posada may get 14 million a year. Surprising that the White Sox gave so much money to AJ.....I don't feel he is worth it.

  10. Micah Owings: best hitting year for a pitcher ever?

i was looking at Micah Owings' hitting stats (.339/.355/.695/1.050/156+) and i cant help but think this is the greatest hitting year for a pitcher ever. were there other hitting years for pitchers that were that astounding? Livan Hernandez, Mike Hampton, Dontrelle Willis and Carlos Zambrano havent even come close to a 156 OPS+

The National League is still wide open with 3 games left....Only the Cubs look secure at this point simply because the Brewers can't take advantage. 12. Interesting article on baseball collapses

http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=6764 If the Mets fail to make the playoffs this year, it would be the second worst collapse in baseball history, according to this article. NO...the 1978 Red Sox are not #1 on the list...

  13. The Peter Gammons thread...

This HOF'er says and writes so many things that are interesting to discuss, I thought I'd start a topic... First topic: Joba -- Youkilis incident I heard him on Mike and Mike in the morning that Friday saying he did not think it was on purpose and didn't mention anything about A-Rod. Then in his blog he writes this:

  16. ESPN, MLB at war again

We may all hate ESPN but they are our main source of out of market games. Selig screwed them over for the TBS deal ESPN not happy http://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=article.main&articleId=56446&requestTimeout=900 ESPN and Major League Baseball are having their second major skirmish in just two months, a fight that could see the league restrict the network’s access to postseason games and that further shows a deteriorating relationship between baseball and one...

  19. Devils Rays have worst bullpen thread!!!

I think this is the 3rd blown save in about a week for the devil rays against boston so i decided to start a thread because that team is annoying me to no end. I knew when they were up 6-5 in the ninth tonight that the game was far from over and sure enough Tampa blows it yet again. Time to perhaps invest some money on the bullpen and do the yanks a favor already??????????
