There are a couple relievers who the Yanks might be able to put to work on that list.

  3. Kenny Rogers fires Boras

Rogers fires agent Boras Lynn Henning / The Detroit News Kenny Rogers, whose signing had been an off-season priority for the Tigers, may have moved closer to a 2008 contract with the Tigers Friday when he abruptly fired his high-profile agent, Scott Boras. Rogers, a 43-year-old left-hander who has won more than 200 big-league games, notified the Major League Baseball Players Association that he was dismissing Boras and representing himself in free-agent talks. Rogers pitched...

  4. Torre, Mattingly To The Dodgers[Merged -Mod]

http://www.nypost.com/seven/10292007/sports/yankees/joe_hollywood.htm Here's a real interesting part to me: I wonder if the contact with the Dodgers had anything to do with why he felt so insulted.

  7. 25 out of 30 GMs want Instant Replay

According to MLB.com, 25 GMs out of 30 want the Instant Replay but for certain calls. Do you think putting IR is a good idea. Now it must be passed by Selig. IMO - I say yes, but one challenge flag per manager. We got screwed by a couple of plays. I don't know what Cashman voted.

  10. Dustin Pedroia is a wrap as Rookie of the Year [Merged - Mod]

Had to get that off my chest. I have no doubts ... even though the Red Sox have two Japanese pitchers that will be getting votes too! :D Anyone agree? If you don't ... well then ... who will it be for the American League?

  12. Schilling Identifies Teams He'd Consider Playing For Next Year

Love him or hate him, one thing that's nice about Curt Schilling is how open he is. The blogging pitcher filed for free agency for the first time in his career yesterday and he has announced that there are 12 teams other than Boston he'd consider: http://38pitches.com/2007/10/30/free-agency-weird/#more-110 My guess is that if the Red Sox don't sign him, he'll end up in Phllly. They have a huge need for starting pitching, he could continue a rivalry with a New York team, and he could...

  17. Elias Free Agency Question : How Was Gagne Type A?

Everything I have read about this incredibly stupid ranking system says that it is based on the last two years of a player's stats. However, in 2006 Gagne threw 2 IP, and in 2005 he threw 13. He has 15 IP total in his prior two years, yet he received a Type-A ranking, putting him in the top 30% (or whatever the number is) of all relief pitchers. There's got to be something more to this, and I'd like us to try and figure it out before he's dealt to the Yanks or the Sox, seeing as...

  20. Bill James Ranks Top 50 Young Talents - Cano Only Yankee

With that in mind, Bill James set out to rank the top 50 young players in major league baseball. By young, he means players who are 29 and younger. To compare players, he devised a formula that takes both youth and talent into account. He took runs created, made a "speed adjustment," divided that total by the runs scored/allowed by that player's team to account for context, and multiplied that total by the number of seasons the player has left before he is 33 years old. For pitchers, he...
