Forum: Around The Majors

Post anything related to baseball. If it doesn't fit in the Yankees Discussion forum, it fits here.

  1. Pudge will return to Tigers in '08

The Tigers announced today that they have picked up catcher Pudge Rodriguez’s $13-million option for next season. Rodriguez, whose arrival prior to the 2004 season returned the franchise to relevance, would have become a free agent if the club had declined the option and paid him a $3-million buyout. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071009/SPORTS02/71009027

  2. Canadians See Bikini Contest Instead Of Sox/Angels

Exercising what I think was just good common sense, Rogers displays the kind of programming acumen that leads me to hope that someday they will be awarded the rights to the ALDS in the US as well. I'd much rather see Hooters girls that the Sox win anything, and I'll bet that the announcers of the bikini contest were a lot less annoying than Chip Caray. http://lioninoil.blogspot.com/2007/10/canadian-baseball-fans-get-bikinis.html

  3. Actober.com

MLB set up a new site: www.actober.com Pretty cool stuff. There's a video of the actor, James Caan talking about his love for the Yankees. They ask him about our chances this year, he talks about Joba and the pitching holding up...he ends with: "To all my Boston friends...SCREW You. Go Yankees!" :roflmao:

  5. Astros announcer Hamilton recovering after heart attack

Get Well Milo http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5199510.html Longtime Houston Astros radio announcer Milo Hamilton suffered a heart attack this weekend and is recovering in a Houston hospital today. Astros' senior vice president of communications Jay Lucas said the 80-year-old underwent an angioplasty and is doing well. He should have been the Cubs announcer but his old rival Harry Caray stole the job from him. He has seethed in Houston ever since. Best known for......

  7. Bryant: Indians Should Go With Sabathia

He's probably right, but I'm glad they're not. :D http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2007/columns/story?columnist=bryant_howard&id=3053879&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines I love this quote: Yes, Sabathia is the next Koufax.

  8. Red Sox Want Yankees/Indians Series to Continue

This AP story says the Red Sox want the Yankees and Indians to get worn out playing each other. I think the Red Sox team, their NESN commentators, and other sports journalists think the Red Sox have the AL league division in the bag: "I guess my preference would be that they play for about another eight days and go 20 innings every game," Boston manager Terry Francona said after beating the Angels 9-1 on Sunday to earn the extra time off. "We'll get guys throwing. We'll get guys hitting,...

  11. Poll: Los Angeles/Anaheim Angels vs. Boston Red Sox

Who will win between the Angels and Red Sox, and in how many games? I say that the Red Sox will sweep. The cool thing about this series is that even if the Sox win, it will be fun to see the Angels go down in flames. I hate these two teams equally.

  14. Poll: Who will win the National League Pennant?

As far as I'm concerned, each team has a 25% chance to get to the World Series. I'm going to flip a coin to see what happens in each series: Phillies (Heads) vs. Rockies (Tails) - the coin came up heads, so the Phillies have advanced to the NLCS. Diamondbacks (Heads) vs. Cubs (Tails) - the coin came up tails, so the Cubs have advanced to the NLCS. Phillies (Heads) vs. Cubs (Tails) - the coin came up tails, so the Cubs have won the pennant!

  17. Barry Bonds: "Do You Think This is Obvious?"

In the Daily News today........ article about Kimberly Bell and her relationship with Barry. Some of the details I could do without, but Barry's comments on his body changing struck me as a bit funny and ironic. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/2007/10/02/2007-10-02_barry_bonds_exmistress_details_stars_ste.html

  20. Caple (ESPN) Page 2 article on why the Cubs must lose

Isn't Caple the idiot that wrote "The Devil Wears Pinstripes?" Well, he hasn't gotten any more talented... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=cubs/071003 And a Cubs blog response. It quotes/responds to that crap Caple calls an article. IMO, the blog is the better read of the two. http://hirejimessian.com/index.php/2007/10/03/why-the-cubs-must-win/
