Forum: Around The Majors

Post anything related to baseball. If it doesn't fit in the Yankees Discussion forum, it fits here.

  1. 2010 interleague schedule -- enough!!

Being somewhat of a baseball purist, I barely tolerated interleague play when it started in 1997 -- to the extent that the schedule was the same for each team in the division (i.e., each AL East team played each NL east team 3 times). At least, with a somewhat identical schedule, you produced a true divisonal champion. Then, with the rotation of interleague divisional play (i.e., AL East plays NL West), the forcing of natural rivalries playing 6 times regardless of rotation schedule of...

  4. Miguel Tejada Cheating thread...........

Wait, let me get this straight. First, Tejada cheats by using PEDs. Then he lies about it to Congress. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we find out he lied about his age, too. Then last month, an allegation drops that he helped his fellow Dominican players on other MLB teams by tipping his own pitchers' pitches to the opposition when he was with the A's. Now this:

I don't know if he fits as being a mascot, but there is no other sight in baseball that pisses me off the most than the one below: I DESPISE this little punk.

  8. Time for Jays to Petition for a move out of AL East?

60-75 entering today's game. 18-39 versus AL East opponents 42-36 against everyone else. At the very least, 6 games over .500 would give them a legitimate chance at the NL wildcard and an outside shot at the AL wildcard. Hard to believe how awful they've been versus their division.

  9. Time for Yanks to Petition for a move out of AL East?

Given how the Yankees have dominated this season and their astronomical payroll, should the Yankees be moved to a more competitive division? It's simply not fair, ya know? The RedSox/Rays/Jays/Orioles just can't compete. The rest of baseball ain't doin' too well either. The Yanks should move to whatever league Bugs Bunny (the greatest banned player ever) and Josh Exley (the former Negro League and alien grey player) are from. Joe Mauer may also be an alien. Would it surprise any of us? I...

  10. Curt Schilling interested in MA Senate seat

From the GAG ME department of the are-you-really-that-shocked division, Curt Schilling has "some interest" in Ted Kennedy's Senate seat. http://www.mail.com/Article.aspx/sports/0/APNews/General-Sports/20090902/U_US-Kennedy-Successor-Schilling?pageid=1 Even though your credentials as a blowhard would seem legendary enough to enter the political ring, please, just go away. Please.

  14. DL Question / Why isn't Michael Young going on the DL?

I will be forthcoming and admit this is related to my fantasy team. Michael Young hurt his hamstring the other night, and here is Rotowire's blurb: What does it being September have to do with going on the DL? Is there some kind of obscure rule related to going onto the DL during this month? Or does it simply mean that because he may be physically able to play prior to 15 days and it's the last month of a pennant race he won't go on the DL?

  15. AL Cy Young leader?

After CC took the AL wins lead last night, I think he is becoming more and more of a candidate for the AL Cy Young. He probably needs to lower his ERA a bit, but right now who do you think is in the lead? The candidates, I think, are the following: CC Mo Felix Hernandez Greinke Halladay Verlander Beckett

  18. Insane stat of the day. Carlos Silva walked .4 batters per 9 innings in 2005

188.1IP and 9 walks By comparison, the great Mariano Rivera's lowest BB/9 is .9. The next lowest walks per 9 since the 1950's is Bob Tewksbury who walked nearly 2x more than Silva in 2005
