  2. Students with perfect attendance go shopping with Braves players

Fifty kids at D.H. Stanton Elementary School have Hudson beat. They went the entire 2006-07 school year without missing a day. For that, they were rewarded with a $100 gift card to DICK'S Sporting Goods and a chance on Saturday to shop with Braves players Hudson, Kelly Johnson, Peter Moylan, Chris Woodward and Corky Miller. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070818&content_id=2156073&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb That's pretty cool!! It's awesome to see players willing to do...

  6. Randy Johnson Trade Discussion [Carter/Pena' Deal -Mod]

Actually, fan based proposals. Wasn't Chris Carter one of the players people on this board coveted ? And weren't they continuously told to forget it, the D'Backs would never include anyone that good ? And yet with Carter posting a .327 / .386 / .527 season with 18 HR and 84 RBI (better than 2006) the D'Backs effectively toss him to the Sox for a pitcher with potential, but poor numbers in Emiliano Fruto. Am I missing something here ? I recognize that Carter's numbers are likely...

  9. Appreciating the Angels' "little things"

Love 'em or hate 'em, you have to give credit to the Angels and the little things they do to win ballgames. Some things we've seen in the game tonight: - Snap throws to first base from the catcher - Aggressive baserunning These are just a few, but I have a lot of respect for the way Scioscia manages that ballclub. It seems to be paying off.

  10. S.I. Heyman: Radomski offers up names of players, juicy details

"Kirk Radomski, the former Mets clubhouse attendant who admitted selling steroids to scores of major leaguers, recently has provided names of users in a meeting with baseball’s lead steroid investigator, George Mitchell, SI.com has learned. Radomski, awaiting federal sentencing after pleading guilty to distributing steroids to “dozens of major leaguers,’’ quietly met with Mitchell and provided names of former steroid clients, sources said. Radomski’s plea and agreement to cooperate has been...

  12. Milwaukee Brewers Best Team in Baseball?

Haven't paid much attention to them, but they are 25-11, which is slightly the best record in baseball. During last night's Yankee broadcast (FSN), they showed a Phillies scout behind the plate, who as of last night scouted 30 teams and he thought the Brewers were clearly the best team he has seen so far. So are they really that good or just a mirage early in the season? http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp

...Assault during a game, at that. I thought this was interesting enough to go for its own thread: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2007/08/offerman_goes_o.html According to the report during the Red Sox pre-game, he didn't post bail and is scheduled for court later on EDIT: Ahh, Spelling error in the title.
