  3. First Baseman Ball Flip

I see this all the time. I'll use a scenario I just saw to explain it. Ground ball to Doug Mientkiewicz, takes it, steps on 1st, inning over. He runs to the dugout, tosses a ball in there and someone else in the dugout tosses him another ball (I may have mixed up the order of that). Why are they throwing him a another ball? Who exactly is throwing this mystery ball and why are they sitting there waiting for this scenario to happen?

  4. Is Theo Epstein insane?

Saw this link on a Boston board Theo did an interview with a Boston station this morning and compared J.D. Drew to 2 former Red Sox hitters. Ted williams and Wade Boggs. He also babbles on how winning the division isn't that important. They must love him in New England

  7. Jays' Wells to have season-ending surgery.

And Sox fans at Rotoworld don't seem too thrilled: <table class="s_playerNewsTable" id="Table1" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td> </td> <td class="s_playerNewsLeftBorder"></td> <td class="s_playerNewsText"> Vernon Wells will have season-ending surgery Tuesday for a cyst and torn labrum in his left shoulder. 8. Why Is The Media So In Love With This Years Tigers ??

isnt it obvious they were a complete fluke last season ?? their lineup is grossly overated. it wasnt even good last year. everyone goes nuts because guys like thames, monroe and inge hit 20 homeruns but their obp's were all terrible. and these were supposedly career years from these guys and they werent even that good. and just adding sheffield doesnt make them this juggernaut. hes not bonds circa 00-04. plus kenny rogers will not have another very good season. and todd jones wont either....

  9. Dayn Perry says Red Sox have best organization

Another Bosox fan and it is not ESPN - Dayn Perry (I don't like even typing his name) says Boston has the best organization - http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7215532 - first the research on road attendance does not take into account that Boston plays at Yankee Stadium which has more fan capacity than Fenway and he ignores the prospects the Yanks have brought up. All Yankee fans should vote on the site and correct the bias in favor of the Red sox votes.

  14. 21-year old forced to sell #756 ball?

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-bonds-756ball&prov=ap&type=lgns "The 21-year-old New York man said Tuesday he had no choice but to sell the ball -- several people told him he would be taxed on the valuable souvenir if he holds onto it. ' This makes absolutely zero sense to me. How can the government legally tax you on something that was a souvenir? Something he CAUGHT, not bought, and it wasn't gifted to him (meaning inherited...estate tax). I mean, heck, I've got three foul...

  16. The Death of Baseball?

Remember a couple years ago, when it seemed all the media and sportswriters were all but writing baseball's obituary? Football is America's #1 sport and always will be, they said. Even NASCAR has the chance to top boring old baseball. I may be wrong, but it seems like the sport has only gained popularity over the last couple years. With different teams winning the WS, a lot of teams in the wild-card races, and in increase in parity, it seems like fans are really enjoying baseball now. Last...

  17. Carlos Pena can flat out HIT!

Just hit his 39th home run on a 3-run shot to give the D-rays an 8-1 lead over the bosox. Looked like a change up on the outer half about knee high. WOW! To dead center in Fenway. Still 29, he looks like a late bloomer. Man, could you have imagined if he had shown more last year and we had kept him? He's darn good on defense also.

  18. Mike Hargrove takes over his former semi-pro team in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- More than two months after abruptly stepping down as manager of the Seattle Mariners, Mike Hargrove has decided to take over the semi-pro summer team in southwest Kansas he played for more than 30 years ago. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AnLe_JIGdhBYU7x9JNN5dP0RvLYF?slug=ap-hargrove-newjob&prov=ap&type=lgns I don't think that this should go in the Mariners thread because he's no longer the manager of the Mariners but this really makes me mad and annoyed...
