  6. Interview with Mark Newman

http://nomaas.org/2011/06/oh-the-humanity-interview-with-yankees-farm-system-boss-mark-newman/ Itís probably best not to get attached to any prospect because if the Yankees want to win continuously, then they are just going to keep going after aging veterans with huge contracts. Noesi has hardly pitched here, so to say that itís all hands on deck is silly. I think itís safe to say that Cashman developed the farm to use primarily as trading chips not to build at team Also, it's clear...

  10. Revisiting the 2007 draft

Viewing other threads on the draft and people trying to question it while other say give it three or four yearrs it made me think... what about the 2007 draft. Instead of trying to grade our 2011 draft class, I figure we could check out a past one and see how it's come along. The 2007 Yankee draft selections http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/team/draft.jsp?c_id=nyy&year=2007 First thing I noticed was we had a very nice draft but didn't sign the guys we needed to. Eric Thames, Drew Storen,...

  11. 2010 International Free Agents

An interesting new concept and one that is past due but do you guys think it will help or hurt the Yankees? Dominican Prospect League winds down Several months ago, La Esquina profiled the start of the Dominican Prospect League, a brainchild of agents Brian Mejia, Ulises Cabrera and Roberto Morales where unsigned teenage Dominican prospects could participate in a league designed to show off their talents to MLB team scouts. The aim was to erase the perception that Dominican prospects...

Took a foul ball off the cup, had to be helped off the field by 3 guys. Hopefully not a Beltre situation and he's ok tomorrow or the next day. http://riveraveblues.com/2011/04/montero-hurt-in-scranton-win-46844/#comments

  15. Poll: Phil Hughes vs. Clay Buchholz, who would you rather have?

I figured since Joba vs. Clay became a debate about upside vs. polish, that this might be a better poll since they are both similiar pitchers. Fastballs that sit low 90's but can get cranked up to 96, knee buckling curves, and change up. Hughes change isnt as consistant as Clay's but he also commands his pitches better.

  16. Humberto Sanchez?

Howdy! Does anyone have a reasonably recent update on Humberto Sanchez? I ran across his name the other day and realized that I hadn't heard much about him since about 2007 or so, when he was regarded as a very good prospect and possible future closer. I ran a search and didn't find any news since early 2009 when we released and then re-signed him to get him off the 40-man roster. Does anyone know if he's still in the organization? I know his days of being a highly-regarded prospect are long...

  20. Off-season Prospects Thread

2010 American League Playoff Teams: New York Yankees Young Player Review Francisco Cervelli, C: 24 year old rookie, hit .271/.359/.335 in 93 games for the Yankees. A Venezuelan signed in 2003, he entered the season with a reputation for outstanding defense, although he ended up throwing out just 14% of runners this year. He lacks power and probably won't develop any, but he should have a long career as a reserve if his throwing comes around. Joba Chamberlain, RHP: He's been...
