The Washington Redskins have hired Marty Schottenheimer as their head coach.
The team planned to announce the hiring this afternoon and officially introduce Schottenheimer at a news conference Thursday, sources said.
Schottenheimer, 57, coached the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs for 15 seasons before resigning as the Chiefs coach in January 1999. He is the...
The Univerisity of Arizona Wildcats played their
PAC 10 opener without their coach last night. The boys gave their all for their coach, Lute Olsen, who recently lost his wife of 47 years to cancer. Bobbi Olsen was a pillar in the Tucson community and within the University community. She will be missed.
This town is CRAZY! I mean C-R-A-Z-Y!!! Not being one who cares a lot about football, I'd have to say that this one is pretty sweet. My hubby grew up with Rocky Calmus' Dad & Uncles. My son played little league baseball with JT Thatcher & Patrick Fletcher. JT's Mom was his 7th grade Math teacher. We know so many connected to this team that it really is pretty sweet. Kinda funny, the one who does not really watch football is the only one who kept sayin , underdogs, shmunderdogs, this team...

Groh Quits Jets for U.V.A.
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS(NYT)
Al Groh, who coached the New York Jets for one season after taking over for Bill Parcells, is leaving the NFL team to replace George Welsh as coach at the University of Virginia.
Groh said returning to his roots in Charlottesville, Va., meant too much to him to turn down the job at his alma mater.
"I realize there will be some criticism of this, but only I know my heart," Groh said Saturday in a...
It's hard to believe that one of these two franchises lofted Lord Stanley's Cup every year from '76 to '83. My, how the mighty have fallen. It's a good thing I have the Yanks, because the Habs are breaking my heart. :( I hope this is like the early '90's was with the Yankees, and that in a few short years the Habs will regain thier prominence.
Tonight it's the battle to not be considered the absolute doormat of the NHL. Maybe we can invite the Panthers and make it a round-robin event -...
Nothing could start the year better than a Notre Dame loss.
:) :) :)
I know you are a big Notre Dame fan, while I'm a Pac-10 alum. I think the best bowl game on the schedule will be New Year's Day in Tempe, where the Oregon State Beavers will beat your beloved Irish in the Fiesta Bowl (played at my Alma Mater).
Can you imagine two more contrasting teams? OSU hasn't had a winning season in 30 years, or a bowl in around 32, yet, last time I checked, the odds makers in Vegas had them a few points up on ND. Tradition versus the ultimate in NO tradition,...
RAIDERS AND DOLPHINS this weekend, it's gonna be physical. BOTH have great defenses, RAIDERS have all the tool's on offense. I AM not takeing MIAMI lightly, they beat a very good COLT'S offense, they shut them down in the 4th. THIS remind's me of the mid 70's, those game's were great, but anyway I will be thinking of you, and am hopeing we can win and play in the next round, take it easy, MAFIA.
he's got vinnyitis...
i need a drink.

Philadelphia Eagles shirt rightside out again. Hopefully, we win! LOL! It's been a long time for the Eagles, hasn't it? It has! Goodbye, Rodney, we NEVER liked you. In fact, I always wished they'd play Randall, but they never did. Well anyway, now we got a GOOD quarterback. Gotta love Donovan McNabb. They say that when Duce comes back, it could be bad for the Eagles next year, because then Donovan might not run as much. I don't think they'll go very far in the playoffs, though. They're offense...
So far in the first half, the Dolphins look like the pathetic team that they are. Fielder looks like Vinny Testaverde, with 3 interceptions in the first half alone.
As much as I hate Payton Manning and the Colts, I'm enjoying watching them beat the hell out of the Dolphins...
The Bears have to beat the Lions and the Saints must beat the Rams. Then, of course, my Packers have to beat the Bucs.
Man, talk about parity! The NFL playoffs look wide open. No team appears to be a lock this year.
afc east champs baby!!!!
poor, poor jets... vinny testaverde kinda reminds me of richard todd...
like the saying goes:
same old jets...
GIANTS & PHINS IN TAMPA!!!!
I was there today, and although not shocked by the great play by the Big Blue Defense, I was very happy to see the Giants actually ring up some points like other teams. Collins, Tiki, and Hillard were great.
Shut down the bus and take Stewart out of game all adds up to a great, great win!
A win next week at Dallas and we are division champs.
I'm juiced baby!
Is there anyone here besides me who is brave enough (or stupid enough?) to admit to being a Washington Redskins fan?
After the lost to celtic's we needed this win .
houston's 27 and spree's 20 but the defense must have play great. The Sixers also lose iverson for a month. Ididn't see the game but I'm sure my buddy the knicks west coast stat keeper will fill me in, ain't that right cali
I know it isn't quite over yet - and at least one New York team is in the playoffs ... but - what was that I witnessed in the Meadowlands yesterday afternoon???? Explanations anyone???
