Longest Thread Ever 5.0

So today I made a change that I knew was coming for quite a while: at his own request, Bub has been made a regular, non-admin, member of the NYYF community. Bob has been hugely responsible for the tenor and success of this site. He even delayed his retirement from NYYF Adminship for a year to help keep track of new users and other site matters. The role of "Administrator" here on the forum is something I protect quite closely, and Bob is the only other person I've given those keys to. He has...
I have seen we have various threads about computer help, what to buy? various terms, differences between MAC and PC, I made this thread for anyone that wants some of us with computer experience to answer some of those who need some advice or help trouble shooting..
There are a bunch of people who frequent this Forum who's first name I know. There are countless others that I have no idea what their first name is.
Couple that with the hundreds upon hundreds of new people who have registered that would have no idea who people are... I thought it would be a good idea for a Thread where people (who wish to divulge this information) give their first name. This is not to be a joke Thread, please be serious and only respond if you wish to give your name.
Pretty easy to figure out the mechanics, pretty hard to win. The object is to make one of the tiles equal 2048 without the board filling up with no moves possible. This one is all over the internet, so you might have been directed to it already, but for those who haven't, I figured I'd give you something to do today:
My best so far is 13,900 points. No 2048 yet.
Next Wednesday I will undergo six hours of tests and interviews to determine my viability to be placed on the kidney transplant list. To say this is one of the most important days of my life is an understatement. Not getting on it means I continue on dialysis as long as it works and then that is it as they say. My doctor believes that I will get on as all my numbers are where they should be (for someone with kidney failure). Today I found out two of the pre-tests were waived! Either way I won't...
So happy that one of the best shows on TV is back!
Excellent start to the seaon IMO. I burst out laughing when Pete walked into the restaurant. He truly started over out in the west coast. This is the happiest I've seen him in about 2-3 seasons.
So Don didn't tell Megan he was put on leave? Dont think this bi-coastal marriage will last. Marriage can be hard work sometimes; being 3000 miles apart doesnt make it any easier.
Interesting Don is helping Freddy. Maybe that's how he not only...
Still below 1000, and we are obviously in ST already.:(
I really love this place (almost all the time ;)).
Any ideas how we can boost membership and, more importantly, active membership?
I'm sure I am not the only one following this story. Very sad, but also just fascinating. Its amazing to me that its 3 days later, and we still have no clue what has happened to this jet. 2014 with all the technology we have and use with flying airline jets, tracking them, GPS/satellites, radar etc.
Anyone else following this? If so, what do you think happened? For it to be on radar one second and then gone the next....makes me think whatever happened was something quick i.e...
Here we go...
More excited for this season than any before. So much great stuff to come.
Premieres March 14th.
Did a search, while there are a few threads about particular games, nothing for just a general discussion about anything.
I'm playign the Godfather for Wii, anyone else play this? It's a great game, not one I thought I would enjoy this much.
One for the movies and now one for TV shows :D
Anyone watch "Psych", the new show on USA? I like it quite a bit. It's pretty funny.
Also, anyone watch Hell's Kitchen?
I think it's kind of a shame, since he's so good at doing what he does now and the late night shows don't allow for that kind of freedom and creativity. Congrats to him, though. He's certainly earned it if he wanted it, which he evidently did. I'm sure he'll be as entertaining as he can be on that kind of show. It'll be weird seeing him out of the Colbert...
New thread needed.
The other one appears to have gone to internet heaven so here is part two.
I saw "In the Valley of Elah" with Tommy Lee Jones, Susan Sarandon and Clarize Theron (sp.?). Very strange ending.
Someone died who didn't deserve their own thread...
Would like some insight to how folks feel after today. I was appalled by Mike Gallagher(conservative talk show host} who seems to think if more Americans were allowed to carry weapons in public places these these nut-jobs would have a second thought carrying out these acts of violence in public...........I could only imagine a shoot-out in the cinema massacre............
Sorry to hear of one of the biggest superstars in the '80s and '90s. He had it all. The iconic entrance, tons of energy galore, endless painted face schemes, he was a brickhouse of strength. He had the moves. He was a one-man gang of wrestling, and very charismatic also. He backed away from nobody, and quite often won.
Just 3 days after being entered into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Very very sad to hear this news.
R-I-P :( :( :(
Happy New Year, weather-discussers.
Besides Ryan, and maybe Jim Cantore, I like this fellow I follow on Twitter--he still thinks we are in the 6-12" area though some other things I've seen/heard don't think we are getting as much snow as previously stated.
muggs asked for it...:)
Love or hate for Citizen Kane? Going to watch 12 Angry Men on Sunday?
Use this thread for your love of classic movies!
I'm not a General Hospital fan anymore, but I was 25 years ago when Luke and Laura got married.
Tomorrow, 25 years after the famous soap wedding aired, Luke and Laura will be renewing their vows.
Just thought someone might be interested. :)
Trailer premiered at comic con today and...wow. Glad to see they're switching back to focusing on the zombies. I really didn't like the finale so I hope they fix things this year.
May as well start a thread with this: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/12/16/coming-soon-the-beer-of-kings/
Did anyone else go here? My parents took me a handful of times in the early 90s. It was soooooo un safe. Amazing it was open as long as it was. I mean, they had a pitch black waterslide with a loop in it. They also had an alpine slide that basically was a concrete track down the side of a ski mountain. Just a recipe for disaster on your swimsuit wearing legs.
Anyway, there's a short documentary about the place online now. ...
