A thread titled "Joe Torre" for example could be about anything - please specify exactly what you want to discuss in the thread you're starting such as "Will Joe Torre Ever Come Back to the Yankees?". Not everyone has a lot of time on the forum to go in and out of every single thread so...
September call ups: RHP Chaz Roe, RHP Chase Whitley, RHP Bryan Mitchell, RHP Preston Claiborne, LHP Rich Hill, C John Ryan Murphy, OF Chris Young and OF Antoan Richardson.
To open necessary 40-man spots, Masahiro Tanaka and Slade Heathcott were moved to the 60-day, Matt Daley was released and Zoilo Almonte was designed for assignment.
Finally, time to play for real!
Do you think this record is achievable? Looking at the schedule, the Yanks have more home games left than anyone else in MLB (40). Let's just consider the possibility of turning things around and regain their home field advantage. Can they go 28-12 at home? Can they play slightly better than .500 on the road (15-13)? Will 90 wins get them into the playoffs?
Let's assume so. IMO here's what they need to do to get to 90 wins:
* Acquire an available every day RFer with some pop (Carlos...
To continue Tz's awesome tribute to Jeter in the countdown thread, I've amassed over 180 pictures of Jeter and plan to post one for every day to the end of the regular season. Enjoy.
Since it has been brought up by Cashman and Rothschild a few days ago, I've been pondering whether or not this is a smart thing to do for September AND the 2015 season.
In my opinion, I think Yanks should explore it for the first half of next season to try and preserve the workload of some injury risk starters such as CC, Pineda, and Tanaka. I think Yankees will try to sign McCarthy and I would like to see them go after Shields (not Lester or Scherzer). Hey, it works in Japan and those guys...
I remember watching this dude in the WBC. He has tremendous power and just looks like a legit baseball player.
The Yankees have missed on a handful of IFA lately (Puig, Darvish, Ryu, Cespedes, Chapman, etc...) so do you think they will be interested In this guy?
I surely hope we take the gamble. And Cuba, suddenly, is producing crazy baseball players!
TH: Gardner (got the offense going)
HM: Robertson, Capuano
The Yankees general manager, Brian Cashman, is signed through the end of this year. Neither he nor Yankee ownership will say what's in store for him. What do you think he will be doing next year?
Failed on latest attempt to land King Felix. Apparently more players involved.
Can we please get a forward thinking GM instead of someone who keeps signing these old guys who break down over the coarse of a long season. We might sniff the wild card if we're lucky.
TH: The 3rd Inning
Seriously, whatever team showed up at the 3rd inning is the Team Hero :D Yankees really haven't put up a lopsided score in a long time
HM: Huff, Pineda, Prado
HM: Ichiro, Huff (didn't lose the lead in the 10th)
Team Hero: Hiroki Kuroda
Honorable Mentions: Carlos Beltran and Martin Prado
I think those three players did close to equally well.
The Yankees hitters did not strike out, which is the fifth time this year and 7,771st time since 1914 a team has not struck out (the MLB strikeout rate used to be lower so it was easier for a team not to strike out). It was the first time since May 12, 2011 that the Yankees did not strike out. That was 578 regular season games ago.
To play 2nd base...
Anyone have good scouting reports on him besides "Brett Gardner with more power"
