The first player signed to a multi-year deal was waived.
Andy Pettitte (2 yrs/$13 per) by Kings of Arbitration. Therefore K of A will have only $259 instead of $260 in next year's auction.
This will be adjusted by adding $1 to the price of one of his keepers when the keepers are loaded, and then the $1 will be subtracted once the auction is completed.
(Edit: I am checking all the rosters now to see if I missed any...this caught my eye because he was picked up on waivers, in which...
I thought the league worked fairly well last year, but I've heard from one owner that he doesn't intend to return for 2013. How many other owners might be interested in playing again? I'll happily sign up for another go-round, but it's pretty dependent on getting enough turn-out to make it worthwhile.
Be seeing you,
So we may or may not get enough owners for GDR 2013 (it's looking like 'not' at the moment). However, as the winner of the league last year, I've got a free invite to a 'Champion's League' on GDR, and I've cashed it in today.
Would anyone be interested in co-GMing with me? I'll make the username and password available to anyone who genuinely wants to participate, particularly with the Free Agency part of the game. It's free, after all, and if you'd like to learn how GameDayRitual works,...
Hey guys, if anyone wants a 50% off coupon code for CBS Sportsline, let me know. I think it would end up $89.99 per league. Or just click on this:
Congratulations to the 2012 champions Furious Ferrets, who defeated Choo Choo Train by a score of 377.7-351.9 to claim the title!
Just a quick explanation for those who are new:
The 2 Japan games did not count for the GDR league. This year's mid-week start does count, but as a half-week. So, normally matchups between teams will be scored as between a 7-0 and a 0-7 result (e.g. a blowout win would be 7-0; a very close win would be 4-3), with the result acting as part of a 162-game result for each team. This week, the scale will run from 4-0 to 0-4 instead, with 2-2 happening if the teams' points total are within 67% of...
Just so that everyone's aware, the GameDay minor league draft starts in 2 weeks' time. Please be sure to pre-rank your preferred prospect list at Front Office/Prospects, unless you're 100% certain you'll be there to draft live! Teams draft in reverse order of their standings from 2011, much like they would in MLB.
Be seeing you,
How do you like your team?
Last time, we had a single FAB thread for people to post questions and signings, so here we go again.
Before we begin (around 48 hours from the time of this post), a FAQ:
Make sure you've decided whether to dump your whole roster ("Firesale") or not. Dumping the whole roster includes prospects, and you will have $100m free to spend. You can waive individual players instead of dumping the whole roster, but then you're on the hook for half their remaining salary - unless they get claimed by...
So it looks like GDR has updated to the next year's contracts (so players with who signed a 2-year contract in 2011 are down to 1 year now). This is a problem, as we're meant to be able to extend up to 2 players whose contracts are expiring for a maximum of 1 more year each. When you open your roster, however, those players won't be available to extend.
EDIT- I missed this! On your 'Contracts' page, there's a button at the top called 'Extend Contracts' - once everyone's joined the league,...
Who did firesale? who did keep all?
I've moved the Free Agency Blitz period to start on the 15th of March, which is next Thursday. That gives us a couple of weeks between that ending and the season starting to add more players, make trades, etc. The Japan games aren't included in the league this year, so the matches won't begin until MLB week 2.
I've also changed the periods for each of the 5 rounds of the FAB to 1 day, rather than 2, and the time between events (players going on the market, players signing contracts) to 3...
3 new teams to be distributed - the Ubaldo Beavers, Dirty Sanchez, and the Romanian Yankees. (All names can be changed!)
3 new owners - Cabrera!, dgreco, and Black Sabbathia. Can you all please post here - or get someone to post for you - to confirm that you're willing to play? The cost will be $10 this year per team.
Each new owner will randomly get one of the teams listed above. You can see the full rosters on this thread: http://forums.nyyfans.com/showthread.php/129265-2011-Round-up. ...
As I understand it, someone is paying for the entire league (Saxmania?) and then we will send him $10 each, right? Rather than us paying $24.95 to play individually, correct?
An apology - during the offseason, I stated that the fee to join the 2012 league would be $10/team. This was based on the cost of the league in 2011, and the advertised cost of starting a new league in 2012 on the website.
However, going to renew the league, it's actually a total cost of $199.95 to renew an existing league, not $99.95 as I thought. So the cost per owner would be $20 each.
This would still be a discount on the individual cost of $25/player if we joined...
Just so that people browsing this forum can see what happened, and anyone interested in joining in 2012 can read up, here's some info on what happened last year:
# Division 1 W L GB FP
1 The Marine Biologists 103 59 - 7,751
2 Pinch Hitters 87 75 16 6,776
3 Furious Ferrets 84 78 19 6,666
4 Babe's Swinging Blast 66 96 37 6,529
5 Harry the K's Legends 65 97 38 5,707
# Division 2 W L GB FP
Is everyone coming back to Game Day Ritual in 2012? I rather like it.
At the moment we have 7 confirmed returning owners out of 10, with one owner (Romanian Yankees) feeling he doesn't really have the time to commit to this, so willing to bow out if anyone else wants a team.
If you'd like to join the GDR league for 2012, or you know someone who would, could you post in this thread? You do get the option to dump the roster you inherit, I believe ('firesale'), so you won't necessarily get stuck with a Houston Astros, but every team has some upside as far as I...
Congratulations to Furious Ferrets and Dead Man Inc. for making the finals. The Ferrets engineered the upset of the year, taking down the #1 ranked Marine Biologists, who ran away with their division.
Good luck to both teams in the finals!
What a race in Division 2!
Dirty Sanchez and Dead Man, Inc tied for first place!
Ubaldo Beavers and Farging Iceholes both just one game back!
Apologies for not posting before it started, but the site is now allowing owners to draft prospects. The draft is NOT serpentine; it's in reverse order of standings every round.
For those who haven't read up on this, any prospects on your roster can be offered a contract when they make the majors. Those contracts work a bit like the Free Agency process, except only you can offer a contract. The player can still reject them. Prospects that don't make the majors can be kept for future years.
