• Pettitte’s ankle “50 percent” healed

Andy Pettitte won’t be eligible to return any earlier than August 27th after being placed on the 60 day disabled list with a fractured ankle, but his rehab seems to be going well, with the old lefty telling ESPN New York that the break was “50 percent closed up,” according to doctors. Pettitte still isn’t able to run on the injured ankle, but he is riding a stationary bike, working in the pool, and throwing off of flat ground, which is positive news. Pettitte hopes to return to the Yankees’ rotation by September 1st.
