Yankees will recall Cory Wade Saturday
Under the new collective bargaining agreement, beginning this year teams are allowed to carry a 26th man on days in which they play doubleheaders. Obviously, the point here is to allow teams to bring up additional bullpen options so as to not create too much of a workload problem from having to play two games in one day. The Yankees and Red Sox just so happen to be playing a twin-billing this Saturday, and according to George King, Cory Wade will be recalled from Triple-A to be the 26th man for the Bombers. The last time we saw Wade he was biting the bullet by throwing 58 pitches to save the rest of the ‘pen, but he did just pitch a perfect inning in his first appearance with the Empire State Yankees, retiring the side in order on nine pitches, seven of which were strikes.
