Curtis Granderson hit 41 home runs last season. The number was somewhat astounding. Certainly, Granderson had shown some power numbers in the past with the Tigers, but nothing like 41 homers. And the skeptic may say that no player has benefited more from playing in the new Yankee Stadium than Granderson. But twenty of those homers came on the road last season. And guess what? He is on the same torrid home run rate this season with 17. Recent national broadcasts have mentioned that most of those homers have occurred at home. Something like his first seven were hit in Yankee Stadium. But that trend is reversing and now six of his seventeen have been hit on the road.

Via a press release that just landed in my inbox, it appears that the Charleston Riverdogs will be represented quite well at this month’s South Atlantic League All-Star game:

The South Atlantic League has announced that the Charleston RiverDogs will have five players and their entire coaching staff in uniform for the 53rdannual SAL All-Star Game on June 19 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston.

Upton has to be willing (obviously). It may be the only time he ever reaches free agency, so it's no sure thing that he'll pass that opportunity up.

I think the thought is that defensively he is ML ready and could be an ok option off a bench as a 4th or 5th OF and pinch runner especially for a team
