    The new playoff format creates a new opportunity for additional teams to contend for a postseason berth, a fact thatís likely to reduce the number of clubs looking to sell off rental players at this yearís deadline. One team that wonít be helped by much of anything this season is the Cubs, and one player thatís almost guaranteed to be traded to a contender is starting pitcher Ryan Dempster. According to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Yankees are one of the teams interested in acquiring Dempster.

    Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors reports that Ben Sheets recently had a throwing session for interested teams, and that the Yankees were one of the clubs who sent a representative to watch the right-handed pitcher show off his stuff. Sheets, a former standout for the Brewers before injuries derailed his career, hasnít pitched in the majors since he made 20 starts for Oakland back in 2010, but at just 33 years old would understandably like another chance to resurrect his career.

    I agree about Montgomery as he really gave Torres a workout at short. I also with impressed with Andujar, I know that it was only 2 ABs, but the ball

    Like Yankyfan, I saw Montgomery pitch a handful of times at Trenton last year and he was mostly 89-91 in those starts. I watch parted of his performance

    Not advocating a switch, but if Gardner is declining and Didi builds on last season, I can see them having similar OBPs with a little more pop from Didi.

    Gardner will always have a higher OBP than Didi. Also, even though Gardner doesn't steal a lot, he's a VERY good baserunner according to the advanced

    Coming back from the injury, I'm not sure he'll have all the power back. I also think Holliday will be better in 2017 given his exit velocity and BABIP
