Sort of along the same lines as what I just said about my skepticism that the Yankees trading for Ryan Dempster makes sense these days, Buster Olney reports that the Yankees are “still waiting for [their] needs to be defined” with respect to the trade market. Honestly, there’s not really a whole lot else they can do right now, as there certainly isn’t any obvious (realistic) move they could make to really improve the team at this point.

The Yankees’ rotation has been sensational of late and a big key to the current surge the team is experiencing. The entire rotation, with the possible exception of ace, C.C. Sabathia, have been pushing expectations and Phil Hughes has been front and center. After an awful first month of the season, Hughes is now 6-5 and has won consistently since the middle of May. Much has been made of his pitching with his old bullpen mentality. That translates to being more aggressive. And the strategy seems to have worked. But is it sustainable?

De la Rosa, Anderson, Ian Kennedy are the most likely targets for Cashman. I wish he could have did something bigger with the Headley trade.

Alex Rios would be a nice right handed bat and latest is Rangers will eat all the money. Plug him in RF, move Ichiro back to the bench for late innings.

That executive is a moron and doesn't know the Yankee farm system. We have A type prospects. MLB ready? Not quite. Yanks are still interested in Hamel's.
