We'll see in October, how accurate these guys are and based on last year's predictions, they're not very good at this prediction game.

Very refreshing to see nobody predicted the Sox. Perhaps with he breaking up of the idiots, some of the ESPN Sox bias has gone too.

No they're just waiting till the sox go on their first 3 game winning streak and then you'll hear the "the sox are gonna be VERY good for years to come", "they have a young core", "reminds me of the 96' Yankees blah blah blah".

Teixeira for MVP? Yeah...

Man, everyone from SI to ESPN is sweating the A's this year.

Gammo even has Bobby Crosby as AL MVP :smokin:

Teixeira for MVP? Yeah...

Do you mean he isn't good enough or his team isn't, so he won't win it as a result.

Do you mean he isn't good enough or his team isn't, so he won't win it as a result.I think it's a combination of both. I don't think his performance will be good enough to overcome the team.

Everyone this year has a hard-on for the A's. I don't understand it. I mean their good, but their not better than the 2000 A's.

Not one of those 'experts' picked the White Sox last year.:(

Who did Reynolds and Kruk pick to win the East - was it the Yanks and did they pick the Red Sox to win the wild card?

J. Stark picked the Yanks to win it all as well.

I can't find the cached page, but Jim Caple earlier had chosen the Red Sox as winning the East and the Wild Card. We discussed it on another thread. It was hilarious.

These things are a big joke. I never pay any attention to them. Most of the time, these "experts" pick against the Yankees/Mets/RedSox just to stir up some controversy and fill their inboxes with e-mail.

Rob Neyer is picking J.D.Drew as NL MVP? He can produce but is from the same school of fragility as Carl Pavano and Jaret Wright.

Honestly, picking Bobby Crosby is a stretch, but it's not that much of a stretch. If he stays healthy, then he puts up Tejada numbers.

He also predicts the Angels will win the wild card. What a homer! ;)

Which 'Sox' are we talking about? brosiusbuddy pointed out that it was refreshing to see the Red Sox not picked to win this year. I simply pointed out the no one picked the White Sox to win in '05 and they won. My post was made in jest. Ah nevermind, he was referring to ESPN bias anyway. I was wrong.

agreed. does anyone know of a website that has compiled a history of the various "major" sports writers baseball predictions over the last few years? seems to me nobody has a particularly good history.

Would any one else feel more comforted if thse "experts" didn't predict the Yanks? I would, after all they never do predict the real winners any way.

The website for the Diamond mind computer baseball game ranks their projections agaisnt various sources (writers, magazines, payroll, spring training) for severa years.
