* Congrats to ex-Yank David Cone and his wife, Lynn. The couple, who've been trying for two years to get pregnant, are going to have a boy. Cone joined fellow '96 heroes Tino Martinez, Graeme Lloyd and Pat Kelly at the bash that marketing guru Tim O'Neill threw in Tampa. Meanwhile, George Steinbrenner has been showing his softer side. We hear he paid for the Yankee Stadium wedding of famed blind sportscaster Eddie Lucas to Allison Pheifle. The Boss also caught up with his fellow benefactor Adele Smithers-Fornaci at the lunch for Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa.

Threads like these are the reason we have a "Yankees: Out of Play" forum. David Cone was a huge part of the Yankees for many years, and news about him is important to many Yankee fans.

If you don't like threads like these, don't open them.

In his/her defense, there are plenty of "Out of Play" topics that are a lot more closely related to the team than the Cones' fertility history.

Apparently you do, since you took the time to post in it.

Also, I believe the word is spelled "to", not "2".

Congrats :)

For some reason, it just seems strange to me that they waited until now to have children. (He's 43.) It seems like the majority of baseball players get married and then have kids in their early 20s... :dunno:

It took him two years cause he left all of his seed in the Shea stadium bullpen.

I've shared drinks with Coney up at Mugshots while he was still wearing pinstripes. Real nice guy. Here's to a happy and healthy boy! :gulp:

Mel Hall is my alltime favorite player, does anyone mind if I start a thread about his ongoing battles with erectile dysfunction? It would really be important to me, and fans deserve to know this type of stuff.

Well if nothing else it would be an opportunity for humor.

No complaints about that thread from me. But please expland it to include all MLB players with ED.

Why are you even looking in the Yankees OUT of Play forum then. We also have Just Conversation, Sports Bar, Other Sports, among with other forums that have nothing to do with the Yankees.

Mel Hall is my alltime favorite player, does anyone mind if I start a thread about his ongoing battles with erectile dysfunction? It would really be important to me, and fans deserve to know this type of stuff. How about I make things a little clearer - there's nothing wrong with users starting theads in "Out of Play" to congratulate the players/former players on birthdays, that they are expecting/have had a child, and other personal accomplishements/milestones. What there is a problem with is users attempting to belittle or make fun of other users.

Since no one else seems to have any more well-wishes for the Cones I think this thread has run it's course and it will be closed.
