I just jumped in my chair when I read this thread. How horribly sad. My prayers are with his family and friends at this tragic time. May he rest in peace. :(

A few days ago I rewatched an episode of "Entourage" he appeared in as himself. His last line in the scene was "I will lose weight, but you'll always be stupid."

Bizarre stuffs.

He was in one of my all-time favorite movies -- "Reservoir Dogs".

RIP, Chris.

Everyone's talking Reservoir Dogs, but I liked him as the "in the closet" brother in Corky Romano. Funny stuff. RIP.

RIP Chirs. He had a nice career. Of course my favorite is Reservoir Dogs.

So, Mr. Orange, you're tellin' me this very good friend of mine, who did four years for my father, who in four years never made a deal, no matter what they dangled in front of him, you're telling me that now, that now this man is free, and we're making good on our commitment to him, he's just gonna decide, OUT OF THE FU*KING BLUE, to rip us off?

Conflicting reports of his age Rhodey. Some sites list it as 43, others 40. Nonetheless its sad.

OMG how sad. This is the first I heard of it. Any cause?

The man was getting very overweight, I never heard anything about drugs or alcohol. Curious as to the cause.

The guy kept his nose clean. You never heard about him with the Hookers and 8 ball. He did have a problem with guns several years ago. Unlawful, or not registered, something like that.

He was a very good actor. His whole family have been acting since they were kids. Not only his brother but his mom has been in the business for awhile.
My heartfelt Sympathies to his family.

Actor Chris Penn's sudden death at age 40 last month was caused by a deadly heart condition, though a commonly prescribed cough syrup probably was a contributing factor, the Los Angeles County coroner's office said Monday.

Investigators found that Penn died of "nonspecific cardiomyopathy" a disease of the heart muscle that is usually fatal over time. Penn's heart was enlarged, weak and "could have given out at any time," said coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey.

Brandon, thanks for posting the link which has given the cause of the unfortunate death of a fine youngish actor. He will be missed by many.

The article's correct and honest information is something that a few here needed to see to clear things up. Right Barry? :(

Kinda hard to make a prequel when the actors that are supposed to star, Travolta and Madsen, are now twelve years older than when the original was made.

Sure, why not. I don't think anyone was necessarily making a leap assuming drug OD when we first heard the news, though.

Yah. I know alot of people were thinking that (including myself), so I wanted to clear the air for the man.

I didn't want people to spread the word that he had OD'd if he hadn't.

HOLLYWOOD He was born into one of Hollywood's most celebrated families. But in his last days, Chris Penn was still hustling for his big break, dreaming up a movie he could direct, writing the screenplay and building the set with his own hands. In his downtime, he'd while away the hours on his favorite perch a stool at the far end of the bar at Locando del Lago, an airy Italian restaurant on Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade.

By early evening, his friend Phil Ursino, a cigar-smoking sometime actor with an old gold Lincoln, would often ferry the actor back to his Ocean Avenue condo packed with war props for his movie, a "Deer Hunter-esque" Vietnam film that he'd wanted to make for two decades. http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060218/LIFESTYLE01/602180350/-1/spider
