Well considering we've kept a lot of the goons at the YES Network boards and ESPN boards out, nyyfans has some pretty solid numbers overrall.

When I stayed at a hotel at Harborplace in Baltimore for my cousin's wedding, there was an anime convention at the hotel. I saw more strange people than I've ever seen.

People get waaaay into that stuff. I love RPG games, but I would never dress up like a character and go to one of those things....Unless I got paid....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime

Anime is a style of animation originating in Japan. It is sometimes referred to by the portmanteau Japanimation. Anime is characterized by character and background styles which may be created by hand or may be assisted by computers. Storylines may feature a variety of characters and may be set in different locations and in different eras. Anime is aimed at a broad range of audiences because there are a wide range of different genres that any series may be categorised under. Anime may be broadcast on television, distributed on media, such as DVDs, or published as console and computer games. Anime is often influenced by Japanese comics known as manga. Anime may also be adapted into live action television programs.

I did the same exact thing! I had a Charizard, Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, Blastoise and Venasaur. And they were all level 100. I made the 6th graders in my school cry.

I'm kind of glad I'd been relatively ghost from the forum during that time. It would kind of blow, no pun intended, to have come on the forums to read about who else the Yankees wouldn't pursue in free agency, only to be met with gay porn.

Thanks for pointing out JeterRodriguezSheff and seahorse. The latter voluntarily chose to be permanently suspended due to some sort of nonsense that occurred in the now defunct Political Soapbox. I believe a voluntary suspension serves no purpose. He is welcome to post here if he likes, just as he is welcome to never frequent this site again. His choice. As such, he has been reinstated.

Same with JRS. If anyone keeps in touch with him, please let him know.

Which site was this? I'm thinking that a team which has moved will need to have its own fanbase. I think that since this basically split the Baltimore fanbase for the MD/DC/WVa area, then you'd be primarily getting fans from those in DC.

I used to (actually, still am) belong to an all-team forum, and Les Expos were a fun bunch. I can't imagine that a team getting its own new uniforms (and not a single person in their history books or in the rafters) would be as much fan.

On the mlb.com website, Les Expos were the only forum that was in two different languages. Now it's all-English.

+ Megathreads for everything

This site used to be the absolute best for Yankee news. Everybody had their own favorite source, and everything got compiled here. You used to be able to go to the main forum and in an instant, see all the news and all the rumors.

But now that everything is buried in a megathread, unless you keep up on every single thread every single day, news gets buried. It's no longer a place to log in and immediately get the latest and best Yankee news. Now you basically have to wait until you see/hear it on a mainstream source and then come here and search to find it in a megathread so you can discuss it.

To me, that is the biggest change, and the death of the forum.

Hitman23

I think the megathreads are great in most cases. We don't need multiple threads about the same player. But you aren't obligated to use them. With discretion you can start new ones for news or ideas that deserve their own.

Megathreads are good, I have no problem with them. They weed out reposts, keep forums less cluttered. I've lurked here since '06 and IIRC, megathreads were around back then, too.

I am not a big ITL poster, but I've been reading this forum since 2001. I liked it better before the megaīs took over. The īclutterī meant you could scan the topics to find one that interested you and the discussion would just be about that. Now if something interesting comes up, but is not the HOT topic about that particular player, it gets buried under some other discussion, usually dominated by two or three posters.

Personally, I say bring back the clutter. Itīs the difference between reading an AP news feed and a newspaper with articles and headlines.

I don't think I would mind the megathreads as much if there were a separate thread for news items. As I said above, trying to go though the "Yankees 2012-13 off-season thread" for rumors and news about potential signings amidst pages of debate is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
