The best show on NBC (sorry Earl and Office) returned tonight. It's a great show that has been, like most funny and original shows, overlooked by the masses. It was nominated for best comedy this past year. I highly recommend it.

As an added bonus, Sarah Chalke is looking real good lately too.

Scrubs return eases my pain over the likely demise of Arrested Developement. That said, I found last nights shows to be a little bit of a let down. I can't quite put my finger on the problem but the vibe was different. Although I do appreciate that fact that they let a chick fart on TV.

I was so happy to see Scrubs back last night, and I was not disappointed with either episode.

I am rarely disappointed with this show, and hope the ratings improve so we get a full season next year.

I like the show, but I agree that it was good but not the greatest last night.

I expect the next few episodes to be more up to par. I think the wait led to the mild letdown.

This is a good show, but I just can't find time to watch it.

My problem is that sports overtakes anything on TV. So for six months in the summer, I watch literally nothing else during primetime. So I don't build up a loyalty to certain shows.

Even during the MLB off-season, there's Sunday and Monday night football and other various sporting events that interrupt regular viewing too often.

Plus, most of the stuff is crap on TV anyway. If there was a set lineup that I enjoyed, I would probably get into a rythm. But since Scrubs and According to Jim (don't ask -- I don't even know why) are the only two shows I can even watch, I don't get into any sort of primetime sitcom viewing rhythm.

The only stuff I watch are the reruns, which I watch before primetime and sometimes after primetime, when I'm home. But even those post-prime shows I often miss becuase I'm out.

The only thing that I'm usually home for, awake for, and enjoy are the late, late shows like the rerun of Conan and Family Guy and Futurama. But even those I sometimes miss due to nights out on the town.

EDIT: Wow, talk about rambling. I hope you all enjoyed this in-depth analysis of my entire tv-viewing habits.

Can we just chalk this up to a 3:30 AM post and move on?

I tried to get into this show when it first started airing...but I can't. I don't know if it just isn't my type of humor, or if I just expect a show with doctors to be more dramatic. But it doesn't work for me. I like Zach Braff quite a bit, though.

It's a really really funny show. I'd have to say that Scrubs is in the Top 6 funniest shows on TV (maybe even best shows).

My list would be (in no order):
Office
Earl
Scrubs
A.D.
Simpsons
Family Guy
24
Monk

I'm sure there are a couple more...

I just watched the episode from this week that I had Tivo'd. So is this the end for Dr. Cox? He's easily the best character on that show (or one of the best characters of any show), and it would be really sad if he wasn't part of the show anymore. I thought I had read that the ratings were up for Scrubs this year, and that the actor who plays him (John McGinley) really loved playing Dr. Cox. I haven't done any research on this, but I would think I would have heard something about him leaving the show. Or maybe it's just part of a dramatic suspense-building story line for May sweeps? Eh, who knows...

Anyone have any ideas?

Jim F.
05-02-06, 10:20 AM
What happened? In a nutshell, JD loses a patient. Cox takes JD to lunch to comfort him, tells him he's seen doctors never come back after blaming themselves for a patient dying, that JD is too good of a doctor for that to happen to. JD buys it. A few twists and turns later, Cox loses a patient, looks distraught, and starts to walk out of the ER. JD says "just like you told me, if you leave you might never come back", and Cox says words to the effect of "yeah, I know...", and shuts the door behind him and walks away. Roll credits...

Further proof of the dumbing down of America. Apparantly we really need to be told when to laugh (laugh track).

Arrested Development
Sports Night
Scrubs

all cancelled because the rubes don't "get it" when they each had the best writing of any other show on at the same time. Just because there's no fake laughs doesn't mean it's not funny.

Shoulda thought of it last week, but Sarah Chalke (http://images.askmen.com/galleries/actress/sarah-chalke/pictures/sarah-chalke-picture-4.jpg) could be in the HFC.

24 is a must!

I have been pretty into Heroes but it's on hiatus until January and I think it's going to run against 24 when it does come back. Between the two I would definitely choose 24. Hell, I would choose 24 over anything else! Luckily I have DVR and TiVo so I don't have to choose.

Grey's Anatomy is awesome too. Men in Trees is not bad. It's on after Grey's Anatomy now. It's like Northern Exposure but a little more girly. Brothers & Sisters is pretty good too.

It was alright. I thought last week's was better though.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think it goes back to last season when he was dating Mandy Moore's character, they rushed the relationship and bought a half acre of property for sale then broke up shortly afterwards. Also Elliot later wanted to move out. When he exactly started to bunk up in a tent on a lawn, well I might have missed that.

I didn't know there was a thread for this show, I absolutely love it.

I got into it maybe two or three years ago, and I can honestly say that this show is the only show that I can watch every week. It's funny, honest, and at times very artsy with their stuff (the lighting in some shots are great). It sucks that next season is going to be the last and rumors that Braff might be leaving THIS season, but I think the show had a hell of a run and should go out with style.

And yes, that Nanny was really hot. *Blows Boobie Horn*

What?! Only one more season?! NO!!!! :( :(

My fiance and I love this show and watch re-runs whenever we can catch them. Comedy Central, WGN, anywhere we can find them - they're on. This show rules. I think it's the best show on TV these days. (I can't stand either 24 or Lost.)

I will be so sad to see this show end.

From what I hear, everyone on the set thinks Braff wil re-sign for another year and Scrubs will have one more season after this one. I don't think there is any offical word yet, but the deal would make him one of the highest paid actors on television.

I heard it might move to ABC for it's final season. That would make perfect sense given NBC's horrible decisionmaking the past few years. They finally have a good night of comedy and seems like they can't break it up fast enough.

Why did they take The Office and 30 Rock off for 5 weeks like this?

I'll admit that I only started watching Scrubs when they were on Comedy Central about 6 months ago. I don't think it would be a terrible idea to move Scrubs to ABC, considering that didn't start doing new episodes until after Thanksgiving this year. For some reason, Scrubs isn't even on this Thursday. Instead, they've got 5 episodes of The Office and one episode of that show with Andy Richter.

The best Todd moment IMO was I think the second season, when JD was talking about all of the decisions we need to make and The Todd says...

"Take a dookie before I work out, or after I work out...AFTER!"

And then goes on to poop his pants while lifting waits.

That's the beauty in the second tier characters like Todd, Lavern, Ted, Doug, etc. The main core of characters is so great, they can be used for funny one line gags whenever the plot allows. Kind of like a talented bench on a baseball team.

The last episode (the one before tonight's) ended with news that Laverne was in a serious car accident and was in a coma.

Tonight's show began with how the cast dealt with the shocking news with different impulsive actions. Cox shaved his head because "no one liked his haircut anyway, so now they all can suck it."

I was so pissed off with the whole engagement thing. The week before last week, when he asked, I went, "NOooooooo! She can't marry KEITH! She's supposed to end up with JD!" I guess JD had his chances, though...many of them. I'm sure she'll marry Keith. :upset:

I heard rumors that JD and Elliot are going to renew their relationship at the end of the season. Though I don't know where Kim (who is still pregnant with JD's kid) is going to fit in if that's indeed true. This kind of stuff isn't really what makes Scrubs great IMO, however JD and Elliot have been "inactive" for so long now, it will surely give the plot some extra flavor I think.

I just started getting heavily into this show about a month and a half ago. I saw back to back reruns one night and was hooked. I wanted to watch the season premiere on ABC but I'm still playing catch up with all the previous seasons. Almost there!

Yep. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I really enjoyed it.

So did anyone watch the final episode? Yes...and hour episode - pretty good, with some off-camera film at the end.

What's the story for next season....are they coming back? With or without Zach B.?

Wait, it was the finale last night? ABC didn't even mention it. It's on my DVR anyway but its sad that shows like this never get any play or hype.

This season has been so-so. Retired Kelso is the best.

Next season is still up in the air. ABC only renewed its core shows so far.

Great episode last night...I really don't think they should come back. I heard a rumor that they would come back, just with a totally different cast (focusing on the new interns and stuff). It would technically just be a totally different show...

I could see them coming back with the current crop of interns (maybe even some cameo appearances from the old cast), but if they ended it here I think that would be fine. If they decided to continue, I'm not really sure what they could do with this new crop that they haven't already done. I for one took the episode title, "My Grand Finale," to mean that the series was over. But I agree that there was no hype for it whatsoever, which is too bad.

That's the impression I got. It was called "My Finale" and with the off camera stuff at the end, one would certainly think so. Plus all of the talk the last few months how so many of the big stars definitely aren't returning (Braff, Reyes, etc.) It might be back I hear with the show centered around the new interns, but as someone else already eluded to, it would then just basically be a completely new show.

As for the episode, I thought it was alright. The ending was really, really great though.

I was so mad because I saw that it would be on but forgot to watch until the last 20 minutes. So I missed 2/3 of the final episode. :(

It looks like they might air it again next week. I don't know for sure, but you might want to check that out.

So after tonight's Yankees loss, I decided to watch the finale online. I'm so glad I did. It was great, the ending was both joyful and appropriate. It took me to a level of happiness I haven't been at since the start of the season haha

What a great finale. The show should really end on that note.
