Yep. No joke. Sort of...

http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/International/2006/01/01/1374907-sun.html

Sharon Tendler met Cindy 15 years ago. She said it was love at first sight. This week she finally took the plunge and proposed. The lucky "guy" plunged right back. In a modest ceremony at Dolphin Reef in the southern Israeli port of Eilat, Tendler, a 41-year-old British citizen, apparently became the world's first person to "marry" a dolphin.

What that story doesn't mention is that the dolphin's name was Cindy.

It was all Snatch and Buckeye's doing, they control the whole contest.

Well there are only two species in the world that have sex for fun and they are humans and dolphins. Did the dolphin get a prenup?

It is morally reprehensible for men to judge the appeal of a dolphin based on looks. However, I'm pleased that she advanced to the next round. Go Flip-er, go Flip-er!

That's what happens when you legalise gay marriage. Elton John gets married and five minutes later people are marrying dolphins. :)

"Dressed in a white dress, a veil and pink flowers in her hair, Tendler got down on one knee on the dock and gave Cindy a kiss. And a piece of herring."

How romantic.

"If we allow gay marriage, people will want to marry animals"

Yeah, that was a real stupid argument.

Not that it's the same thing or that I'm trying to move this discussion to another topic -- I've never even made that argument myself -- but I find it funny how that statement was ridiculed because people would never marry animals. And I know that it's not an official ceremony, but still.

Speaking of which, she'll likely not be eating any tuna sandwiches, to protect the dolphins.

Now what if there's a whole school of 'em trying to get some?

So are you saying that the "people will next marry animals" argument is valid, or are you ridiculing it? I'm not sure what you're saying here.

I'm not saying that it's a valid argument, but I am saying that the standard "that will never happen" isn't a valid response, either. Because obviously it will happen.

Now that she's Mrs Flipper, does she get a 5,000 gallon aquarium or something?

Lucky guy, he never has to take out the garbage, hear his wife complain. Heck, if she makes too much noise, he can just go underwater for awhile, and he gets to eat all the fish he can.
