Just wondering if anyone has heard anything since supposedly he was set to take a physical last week.

I had heard that he passed the physical and there might be an announcement today or tomorrow. Not sure where I read it though, so sorry, no link.

Heard something on WFAN today about him, it's pretty much a done deal. He's all set and ready to go.

This could turn out to be a very important deal. If he can come back by June, that would be huge. Now, Torre can burn out Sturtze all he wants, because he won't have to pitch again after the allstar break. At least, he won't be relied upon to get big outs. He can be more of a 2-inning stopgap to the back end - a real 6th inning man, which I think he would excel at.

I believe that is Ms. Scarlett Johansen. She is equal parts great actress (see Lost in Translation) and hottie.

 :roflmao:

Its a shame that this happened, but they're using mlb players status to win their case, which does not sit right with me...

To stay on topic, I hope he passes this physical... :gulp:

This is a good deal low risk high reward. If it works out properly we might have one of the best bullpens in the Majors by the Allstar Break. Then again bullpens are unpedictable.

Free-agent right-hander Octavio Dotel signed a one-year deal with the New York Yankees on Thursday, the team announced.

Dotel, 32, was 1-2 with a 3.52 ERA in 15 games for the Oakland Athletics last season before being placed on the disabled list May 19 and missing the rest of the season after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow.

In his 15 appearances, he limited opposing batters to a .185 average and held right-handed hitters to three hits in 28 at-bats (.107). Dotel has held opponents to a .213 average in his career, including .201 (238-for-1185) against right-handed hitters.

Dotel has 481 strikeouts in 389 2/3 innings pitched as reliever since the 2001 season, the most in the majors during that span. In 381 career appearances (600 1/3 innings), he has recorded 725 strikeouts, an average of 10.87 per nine innings.
