No one really has any evidence about BP's Pitcher Abuse Points. No evidence whether they are truly important.
But I can't imagine this is a good sign:
Top 5 Pitchers by PAP:
Player Team AVGNP STRESS PAP
Mike Mussina NYA 102.4 23 37,331
Sidney Ponson BAL 97.0 25 36,170
Carl Pavano NYA 91.3 23 36,063
Barry Zito OAK 107.1 17 29,042
Roy Halladay BAL 103.3 16 26,117
2 Yankees in the top 5. Great.
Apparently he's gotta make up for lost time since last year the starters made so many early exits. Milking the stones.

The Mussina one is shocking given his age and the fact that he had elbow troubles last year. That must be just the AL, since I don't see Livan "I'll Pitch Until My Arm Falls Off" Hernandez in there, right?

Yes, and if you look at the full Major League, of course, Pete is right, Livan's arm is about to fall off:
Top 10
1. Livan Hernandez
2. Carlos Zambrano
3. Jason Schmidt
4. Aaron Harang
5. Roy Oswalt
6. Mike Mussina
7. Sidney Ponson
8. Carl Pavano
9. Doug Davis
10. John Smoltz

Joking of course. He's been top 3 in PAP since 2003, at least.
I can't go back further.

Interesting question, though. Which is worse: burning out Moose/Pavano (or any starters) or burning out TanGorMo?

I see Dusty is working on making sure Zambrano has the same "successful" career that Prior and Wood are having.
