Anyone see 60 Minutes last night. Researchers in England believe that with their sense of smell, dogs can detect cancers.

It was really fascinating. Man's (and woman's) best friend may save lives.

I didn't watch 60 Minutes, but I've heard of this happening before... dogs repeatedly barking at a particular body part which, unbeknownst to the dogs' owners, happen to be cancerous. Very intriguing.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if scientists could prove that cancer cells smell different from regular cells.

I saw something on Animal Planet where this woman's dog kept licking and sniffing her leg...she was diagnosed with skin cancer.

I've actually heard this before as well. The only thing is getting the dog to tell you about it.

I haven't heard that before, nor did I see 60 minutes. That's cool though.

Another reason why Dogs are better than Cats. ;)

That is fascinating. Does anybody know if research on the smell of cancer cells has been done?

Another article on this....

Apparently the dogs have amazing accuracy detecting lung cancer just by sniffing the breath of the patient. Scientists are skeptical but intrigued.
