Man I had a great time last night getting hammered and drafting. First time in an auction I think I'm pretty happy with how I did. Thank you Snatch, and thanks to the rest of you for making it fun!

I'd like to apologize to you all for the mess-up early on, I hope you can understand that my bid of 45$ for Beltran was a mistake. I was typing in the chat and when I hit enter it went +1 instead. Thanks Snatch for fixing it.

I think that went about as smoothly as possible. I am really feeling it today. I am such a big wuss when it comes to staying up late.

Thanks, Snatch.

 I had one of the best teams in the original league last season. That is until crippling injuries (Reyes, Preston Wilson, Furcal, and on and on...) ruined my season.

Let's see how things play out. :D

I could always pick up another 1b. There are a bunch of them. in fact I'm a little peaved at myself for taking Ortiz at such a high price with the amount of heavy hitting 1B that are out there. I don't know why I went all out for big poppa asshat.

Cuz it was wasting so much time! You want someone, just f-ing bid! (Not directed at you, Steve. Just the overall, last-second bidding last night...) It's not like there's a timelimit on each player like on EBay, and you're getting the winning bid at the last second. With each bid, the clock re-set.

That's what was so freaking annoying! Without that crap, and the 20-minute false start at the beginning we could have been done at least 30 mins earlier.

If someone is throwing in a bid too quickly, others may know how badly you want him so they keep upping the price. I hope I'm not the only one who picked up on this. I jacked a few prices up this way.....

yeah, but for the 10 or 11 people not bidding on a player, just waiting for the next one to be announced (while watching the clock tick way past midnight) it was really getting annoying. Esp with how many times it would just say "SOLD" and a new bid would come in last second and the clock would re-start...

Besides, you shoulda spent that time putting players in your que. i was busy when I wasn't bidding.

This is why I said that a face to face draft would have been alot more fun, and would have required poker skills. :) (not complaining, i did have a blast)

I usually did, unless my daughter got up. And that one time, I had someone in the queue but it doesn't start auto-bidding at $1.

Kev-suggestion for the Fantasy Auctioneer guy. If a player in the queue gets nominated, he gets bid at $1 automatically if no other price is put in after 10 seconds or so...

I'd love to do it f-2-f. If only to meet everyone, and to see what kind of charts and research you all do for the auction.

I thought of a suggestion last night. i should have written it down.

That is why I kept biotching about. I knew I only had 6 players to go and 6 dollars to spend. If I didn't get the player I nominated, I was SOL. Oh well, its over.

the worst had to be the mota signing. I dont know whether or not he really made a mistake of typing in 20, but it seems awfully difficult to accidentally type in 20.

the rain man was getting really fcuking annoying w/ his last second bids. i know i might've been annoying people at times w/ my price inflation, but that was one of my strategies. The Rain Man, and maybe one or two other people, i thought, were bidding against me with no intention to buy.. they were just trying to get back at me for raising the price of their players... and to top it off, they were doing the last second bid things.

i hope all his players go on the IL

I dont know whether or not he really made a mistake of typing in 20, but it seems awfully difficult to accidentally type in 20. he had $20 in for the previous player, but when the price soared he didn't bid. It never reset and when he went to bid on Mota the $20 popped out.

I believe him. Going from $7 to $20 for Mota seems a bit absurd.

I had a magazine, the printouts from Sportsline and 3 Excel spreadsheets ranking from #1 down-- one by overall value, one by position by value, and one straight alphabetical list. I used the alpha one most, b/c it easily let me see people's values.

actually it was M.Cabrera - but like EE said, by the time I typed 20, it was up to 24. Then I just started watching MetsMagic and whoever else it was get into that bidding war. Forgot to erase it afterwards, and ended up buying Mota for more than I would have normally.

On my cheat sheet, I had him penciled in at $8-$11....

Seriously, a $14 Mota has a good chance to be kept next year, and maybe the one after as well.

Mota had dominant numbers, and will now get the chance to close for what some people are calling the best team in the NL...

I know. Now that this league is done with the auction, I can start working on ranking my players in that league. I got lucky, all my drafts are evenly spaced out this year.
