Ortiz traded to Reds for Double-A pitcher

Ortiz, a 31-year-old right-hander, figures to be a member of the Reds' starting rotation. He was 5-7 with a 4.43 ERA in 34 games -- 14 of them starts -- for the Angels last season.

...

The Angels received right-hander Dustin Moseley from the Reds for Ortiz. Moseley split time with Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville last season, going 5-6 with a 3.86 ERA in 20 starts. He was taken by the Reds as the 34th overall selection in the 2000 amateur draft.

The Reds are looking to contend this year. Huge move for them.

I wonder how he'll perform in Great America? Anecdotally many refer to it as a hitter's park, but it was neutral in 2003, not sure about 2004. I really though that guy would make a nice run for a few years but he was horrible in 2003 and not very effective last season.

He can't be much worse than Paul Wilson. Seriously, I think he's their No. 1 now. Like Pedro, he probably just needed to find a place where he can be top dog.

I think he'd also like to play with Griffey. Well, at least for the first 6 or 8 games of the season.
