Unlikely. And if it's FOX, it's the "Red Sox game", not the "Yankees game". ;)

This will be the last game i will watch this year unless the Astros win.
If the Stros win, then I will only watch Game 3 with Roger pitching, and refrain from the set until a possible Game 7.
STL is cool, but I'm cheering for Roger tonight even though I thought me being in Miami in Game 4 was going to be the last time I was going to see him. I was wrong.
Good luck to both teams.

Time for the Joe Buck-Leon commercial.
"Yo Joe, whats the word baby." "You know Leon cant cook without that dough, baby."
Clemens still pitching, and the Yankees done for the year. Who would have thought it after all the fuss about his "retirement" last year! :o

You know, alot is made of that stat. But my deal is, he isnt going to be stealing that many bases with the Yanks if he's batting 2nd in the order. So in a way, you would be taking away a part of his game that makes him a great player.

Was that ever discussed post game? I didn't see anything. Did someone say it was poor sportsmanship? If that's the case, that's insane. He's out there to play baseball and field his position and that includes bunts. I would've bunted on the first pitch of the game.

It's really hard to, with a lineup of HR hitters. Jeter, Cairo and Lofton are the only ones who have likely ever bunted in a game.

Oh, I know, Web, but that's why Lofton should've started that game and him, along w/ Jetes and Miggy, should've tested the ankle.

Girardi pointed out that the one time when Schilling seemed as if he were a little shaken was when he was forced to run over to first base to field a grounder from Bernie. WHY DIDN'T WE MAKE HIM MOVE MORE? &po'd&

Sounds alot like the Yanks doesnt it? That worked out just enough until the 7th game.
If those starters get TKO'd early in the game (which damn well is possible), I have no good feeling that any of these guys would keep the Sox at bay (not that I have any interest) for an extended period.
You say Cal Eldred, I say Esteban Loaiza
You say Julian Tavarez, I say Tanyon Sturtze
You say Kiko Calero, I say Paul Quantrill
You say Jason Isringhausen, I say Tom Gordon.
I have love for Steve Kline and Ray King, so no argument there. Ray can pitch for the Yanks. I wouldnt have a prob with that.
Now, this is a good game. Both sides are playing well. This is how I wish OUR game seven could have gone, if we had to lose it. :o

You are forgetting the real reason that the Yankees lost the ALCS, a slump non-performing pressing offense after game 3. It is very unlikely that this would happen to the Cards' hitters are monsters who should have success off the Red Sox pitchers, at least enough to win the number of games necessary. The Cards were actually able to win a game in extra inningsI bet the Cards can hit a knuckeballer and an overworked Boston bullpen. We'll see though.

I gave the Marlins a 30% chance of winning simply based on the way they score runs. Looking back, they have one of the most underrated lineups in the last few years.
Also, the Yanks offense was subject to too many slumps last year and there was a possibility that could happen, which it did.
To this day, I still cant believe I was witness in Sec. 134 in Miami to see Carl Pavano pull a "Derek Lowe" (or vice versa) and shut the Yanks down for 8 innings. That was the biggest shock to me.

Don't you think it would've been harder to take had we lost a close game?

This team has chosen to slump at the worst times the past 2 postseasons.
Beltran grounds out.

The Cards offense has been MIA since Game 1. Sure they've squeaked across a few runs here and there, but these guys dont grind out at-bats which is weird considering how good they are. Its like, if they get down 2 or 3 runs early in the game, they seem to go 1st or 2nd pitch hacking.

Game 7 was the only game they didn't have a chance in really what w/ falling down big early w/ no real relief in sight.
Could we get Tavarez? At least he'd be someone for Brown to exchange hard-object slugging techique tips with ... :o

Tavarez breaks a few bones in his hand and he pitching better than he was before he broke it.
Maybe I see what Brown was trying to do.........

Eh and by the way ... Game 1 was 8-0 into the seventh, IIRC ... and the Sox ALMOST came back to win it.
Wow, Tavarez's phone smashing fit almost came back to haunt the Cards!

DB25- That works too.
Did that ball hit Tavarez "I wanna be like Brown" in his broken bones hand?
Tavarez got a 1-2-3 inning but it looks like he paid the price for it. He was still on the mound after the play was done, it looked like he knocked the ball down with his broken hand.

They fought at least in games 4-6.
We WON Game 1 though. :D Thats all that mattered.
Wow, looks like the Cards may pick up an insurance run here.
It's painful to see what really GOOD baseball looks like.

Three outs from a Cards/Sox World Series.
At least I don't have to put up with a team with no history and no genuine fans winning the big prize. (See Angels, Marlins, D'Backs.)

True. Just like last year, timely hitting is what did the team in. Remember Game 4 in Miami and Boone (or Aaron Boot or Error Boone)unable to get a flyball with the bases loaded against Brandon Looper. I still havent forgiven him for that. Or, bases loaded in Game 5 in the 8th inning and Bernie popped up to right field.
The Marlins in the Game 6 got their only 2 runs on a sac fly and and RBI single by Castillo.
As we have seen, apparently you cant buy timely hitting. I dont know where you can find that.

We WON Game 1 though. :D Thats all that mattered. Yeah, they fought, but futilely. As for winning Game 1 ... couldn't what happened in that game at least have inspired them to TRY to win Game Seven? Instead they lay down and died for Derek "Two Days Rest" Lowe.
They just said Pujols was watching video to analyze what Clemens was throwing and plan his last at bat against Clemens ... I seem to recall Tino did that before facing Kim in the 2001 WS, or did he just watch closely in the eighth inning?

But they've had 4 other chances to either get there, or actually win it if I remember.
1985 against KC with that bad call at first base. If that play happens at the Stadium, the riot police really would have had to come out in full force.
1987 against MIN needing to win 1 game in the Metrodome but lost both. Lost in 7 games.
1996 against ATL. Leading 3 games to 1 and then losing 13-0, 4-1, and the ultimate 15-0 defeat in Game 7.
2000 against the Mets. Can it get any worse than that.
Doesn't Womack have a bad back?
Two down. One more to go.
The Stros are really making it easy on Izzy ... two pitches, two outs!

This makes me resent the Yankees even more. They had opportunties to beat Boston in game 4 and 5 and wasted them completely. They couldn't buy a hit when they needed it most. Good for the Cardinals. They actually won a game in extra innings.

But at least handled the pressure and won the clincher in Game 4 of the Series against Atlanta. His problems werent in his head.
