Being a first-round pick and all, he didn't even stay around long enough for a new contract/contract-extension, did he?
Alas...
$8.6 million coulda bought a lot of weed...

From the article:
"Williams has said that if the Dolphins attempt to get the money back, he will file bankruptcy."
Why the heck wouldn't they try to get it back if they won the arbitration hearing? Are they just going to dance around saying that they won it? I would assume it's because they wanted the 8.6 mil back. I find it very hard to have any sympathy for Ricky after what he did to his team-although I wasn't crying, being a Jet fan and all. :D

From what little I know about bankruptcy ,I'm guessing, the courts could order any of Ricky's real estate holdings sold. If there's a shortfall that will be written off in the bankruptcy. Any other of his assets: cars, jewelery, etc. might be sold off as well. The Dolphins, and other creditors, can file a claim in Bankruptcy Court. Meanwhile Ricky's credit will be trashed for 7 years.
This is a great ruling for Miami for two reasons. First, they get salary cap relief. Second, if they can't recoup Ricky's $8.6 million, they can write it off in federal income tax as a bad debt.

I heard Peter King on the Dan Patrick radio show talking about how the Saints paid Ricky 3.3 of the 8.6 million dollars in question. The Fish should only be entitled to 5.3 million. ( only! ) Ricky should be able to keep that 3.3 mill, it's not like the Dolphins, an NFL franchise, are living in the poorhouse.
