View Full Version : Did the Giants win bother anyone else?

I know they won and all, but as a Giants fan I found it particularly unnerving that even with 7 turnovers by the skins, we were in a position to lose the game until just about the final minute or two.
7 turnovers should translate to a blowout!

It should but the Giants have a really bad team this year... And no, it didn't bother me at all since I have $20 that the Jets will have a better record than the Redskins this year.

The Redskins have some serious problems at QB. Both Brunell and Ramsey look awful. Yes the Giants aren't a good team but their front seven shut down Portis and put tremendous pressure on their QBs. That bodes well for the Giants. From now on, Skins' opponents will load up the box to stop Portis and dare the Skins to pass. Washington is in big trouble. :)
BTW kudos to DT William Joseph who finally started playing like a 1st round pick. It was very encouraging to see. :D

After losing 9 straight games, a win is a win.....I'll take it....
It's a building block. They have had a major turnover in personnel, they have a new coaching staff, and the players are learning a new system. They won. How could that bother a Giants fan?

I knew Brunell would be horrible when I saw him lofting 3/4 of his passes high and out of bounds at the freaking Quarterback Challenge. I just kinda chuckled to myself. Good times.

Yeah.
I was there.
They had so many turnovers handed to them it's not even funny.
One thing to note though, is that many of the INTs were deep in Giants territory, so they saved Skins scores rather than led toe asy Giants scores.

I'm not saying I wasn't happy that we got a W... just that if we were not given so many gifts (the 7 TOs) we wouldn't have stood a chance in that game.
If we plan to win more games, we will have to play better than we have for the first two weeks.
I know we are a team rebuilding, but I really want to finish as high as possible this year if we need to give up our top pick next year.

I'm a Jet fan but I would say it shouldn't bother Giants fans too much. In the NFL you need all kinds of wins to compete. It is very, very hard to win football games no matter who they're against, and I believe you take them any way you can get them, whether it's a 49-0 blowout or a 7 turnover 6 point victory. If I were a Giants fan I would be looking at the game saying "hey, maybe it's a game that we could have lost with one big Washington play, but we didn't, so instead of being the possible 0-2 we're 1-1." Unless you get down to points for or against or whatever as playoff tiebreakers, a win is a win, especially against a coach like Joe Gibbs and especially against a team like the Redskins who have a RB with a potential to dominate in Portis and a good WR core.
The flip side is to say that the Giants COULD have blown it, but they didn't, which is a positive sign, I think.
I don't have any negative feelings about the Jets-San Diego game even though they were up big at one point and only ended up winning by 6. A win is a win is a win.
In the college game it's different. If USC is playing, say, Kent State and only wins by 6, that should be dissapointing to their fans, since the talent levels are so different, but in the NFL the talent level is so high and spread out that all 32 teams are at the least, decent, and have a chance to compete against any other team on any given Sunday.

i personally dont think the Giants will make it past 4 or 5 wins. no disrespect towards Giants fans but to be honest they are'nt really a good team this year.
