Looks like there is a good chance he will sign a 1 year deal to backup Chad. I'm not a big Quincy fan but we definately need a backup QB in case Chad goes down.

What do you think?

By the way, he's signed.

Free agent quarterback Quincy Carter, released by the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 4 after allegedly testing positive in violation of the NFL substance abuse policy, on Tuesday sign a one-year contract with the New York Jets.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. All I know is before Parcells came to Dallas, Quincy was a virtually uncoachable player who appeared to be headed for self-destruction as a player (all personal, off the field issues aside). It took Parcells to light that big fire under him to get him to start playing to his potential--do you think Edwards can keep him on track like that? It's not like he'll get any playing time, barring injury to your beloved Pennington, so I guess that's not really an issue.

I wouldn't like the idea of Quincy Carter having only half-learned the offense having to step on the field and take over for the injured starter though. I do wish him the best of luck, as I liked him a lot and supported him the entire time he was in Dallas. If called into action, maybe he'll use what has happened recently as fuel to prove people wrong. Who knows? At the very least, you're getting a back-up who has experience as an NFL starter, which is never a bad thing.

Good move. Brooks Bollinger makes me squirm.

It's a very good thing compared to Bollinger. At least if Pennington goes down for a few games (God forbid) Quincy will give us the chance to win them which Bollinger would not have.

Which I am happy about. I believe that means he won't hurt our cap at all.

I'd rather Ray instead of Carter. But Carter has 3 seasons of experience. This move just buys Ray &/or Bollinger some more time, until next season.
