$20MM for an unproven quarterback who might not have been the best QB in the draft. I thought they gave away too much just to get him and now this. I think it's nuts...

Everyone who says they gave too much for him, wont be saying the same thing in 2 years. He is going to be awesome. Cant wait to see him! Go Gmen.

Giants just overpaid all around.

The money is not a big deal. The $20 million is merely guaranteed money which he would have gotten under any circumstances. It's a fair deal for a kid who will become the best QB in the NFL.

Agreed. The big headline-worthy "$20 mill Signing Bonus" is good pub for the agent. All of Eli's contract might just as well be guaranteed considering what the Giants gave up to get him (2 #1s).

I really think the Giants gave too much up for him in the draft. I don't think they are going to be a good team at all next year so that draft pick will be even more important. He better live up to expectations or else Giant fans will be pissed. The funny thing is that he won't ever even be the best QB in New York.:)

Shoulda taken Sean Taylor and rebuilt the O-line.

Only if you mean that Warner is the best QB in NY.

Because the Giants and Jets play in New Jersey none of their QBs count. :P

Chad Pennington will show everyone that he is not only the best QB in NY (or NJ) but the best in the league this year. I have even more confidence in him as I had in Jeff Weaver for the 2003 season and Jose Contreras for this season...;)

Do any salary cap experts know what this does to the Giants' cap?

About Eli and what they gave up for him....When it happened, my initial reaction was, "way too much." But now that I've thought about it for a while, they must have thought he was much, much better than the other QB's in the draft. They must really believe that he will be special. And if they are right, it's going to be a great move and a lot of fun for us.
