I don't know, but it was within the last ten years wasn't it? A pitcher?

Masanori Murakami, is his name
He pitched for the Giants in 64 - 65

He was'nt bad at all

ERA 3.43
Why he did'nt stick I don't remember
I remember this being a big deal though.

KG, In this weeks Baseball Weekly there's a special report on Asian players.

Masanori Murakami came over as a 20 year old in 1964, played for the Giants for 89 1/2 innings. The article states, "The Japanese government, fearful of a rash of defections, demanded Murakami be returned". Murakami won 5 of 6 decisions and saved 9 games for the Giants in 1964 and 1965.

How the world has changed.
